    Choosing a 5 1/2

Are the older ones different? Better quality?

Flush router bit for 60mm hardwood join.

I wouldn't call it expensive either for a solid TCT bit, not if you're going to use it to make a living. I looked at the Wealden compression bits and I think they were more or less similar price. I have 12mm because most large bits here are 12 not 1/2". I have always tried to stick with Titman...

    Choosing a 5 1/2

I'd like to try a 5 1/2. I'm in Italy so I can't pop out and try one. Which make, or age if used, would be considered "best bang for buck"? In the past I've been spoilt, I've had a few Lie Nielsen, but they are way out of my league now, and I've already sold the one I never used.

Flush router bit for 60mm hardwood join.

I've just bought a cmt up/down CMT spiral TCT cutter at a great price. This should ensure minimal breakout top and bottom. https://www.scosarg.com/search-results#/embedded/query=CM19012011&query_name=match_and It was less than half the discounted price here in Italy.

You weren't allowed to do that in the early years of ebay.

FTG flat top grind circular saw blades

It's quite difficult as a private individual to get access to professional equipment here. You have to have a VAT number to buy from Hilti. There aren't many sources of good tools for joe public and they're only really interested in selling what they have on the shelf, often minimum order value...

Advice on buying an emergency generator

I believe there is always a chance anything modern might be microprocessor controlled and therefore need a clean supply? I think any boiler will have microprocessors of some type. Add to this easy starting and reliability and I splashed out and got a small Honda inverter, 2kw. I leave it with...

    Which plane for shooting board?

All the 51's I have seen have been a tad expensive. Someone suggested a 5 1/2 but I can't remember why.

    Which plane for shooting board?

Although I still have a few western planes they are packed away in boxes and more often than not I pick up a Japanese plane. I have never used a shooting board and want to try one. Is it possible to pick a single western plane that works well with a shooting board?

    Lie Nielsen tools

I have a Lie Nielsen 62 in good condition I haven't used in some years. I'll have to dig it out as it's still packed from when I moved in 2012. Should still have box. I have been intending to list it on eBay, but after a bad experience where a courier signed the delivery docket but failed to...

Router corner radius jig. Any good? Easy to use?

Sometimes I just want to tidy up a corner on a jig and they seem ideal. Just not sure they are as easy to use as they suggest. Clever jig but I seem to be spending too much time making jigs at the moment. A jig to make a jig is a step too far for me.

I'm often tempted to buy a set of these. Are they effective, easy to use? Any of the new UK manufacturers making them?

    table saw runners.

I personally have a Startrite. The grooves in the top are only 1/4" deep- All the aftermarket runners I have seen are 3/8". I just bought 2 pieces of 3/4" x 1/4" gauge plate 18" long. It took me a couple of days of hand lapping to get one to fit as it was about 10 thou oversize. I then had to...
