    Repointing using lime mortar

When I first started I used to collect 1.5 tonnes of freshly slaked lime in a digger trailer straight from the kilns. The wife and I would line the trailer with two layers of heavy plastic sheet and pray it didn't rain. When we got home we would mix it with sand in a mini belle, add water and...

    Repointing using lime mortar

In Italy it's fairly regional, Vimark sell a couple of colours of basecoat to match the local stone. It is incredibly easy to use compared to mixing your own in the UK. It is as easy, or easier than using sand and cement as it is very fatty. They must cheat and add all sorts to make it so easy...

    Repointing using lime mortar

Be sure to add it in small quantities very slowly or you will get clumps in the mortar.

    Repointing using lime mortar

There is no reason hydraulic lime mortars should fail if applied under the right conditions. It is far more difficult to use fat lime mortars and they need much more care in preparation and care after placing to ensure they do not dry out in the first couple of days or even 7/10 days. If you can...

    Repointing using lime mortar

Maybe try using an NHL 5 on the roof, if the roofing material is not too soft. I used it set chimney pots in Ireland and it was fine.

    Repointing using lime mortar

As long as it’s above 5C you’re OK. Get yourself some hessian, use damp to slow the set and protect from heat and wind. Make sure the background is well wet down before starting.

    Repointing using lime mortar

When i first contactedthem I was in Ireland. Rather than sell me lots if expensive peoduct with huge shipping costs they taught me how to make my own. Back then I was using fat rather than hydraulic mortar. I cant praise them enough.

    Repointing using lime mortar

look at masons mortar. they're honest and can provide an abundance of information. I have been using them since the 90's. in the last 3 years, I have spent probably 15K on materials alone for plastering. It isn't difficult to mix but you need not just the correct colour sand but the correct...

TS 55, accuracy of rail squares

Well I found some other similar threads so I guess having both rail square and parallel guides would be best. I'm not sure how easy a question it is to answer but does the TSO/Festool option do as much with accessories as the Benchdogs FCtools versions?

TS 55, accuracy of rail squares

I have a couple of 1400 Festool rails I have been using with my routers. I rarely buy from Banggood but my second, or third, order arrived yesterday, nothing to do with mft or guide rails. The quality was great for less than 30 euro but the jig has 4 screws and 3 were fully inserted, the 4th was...

TS 55, accuracy of rail squares

I have a table saw, but it's a Startrite and it no longer had its sliding table when I bought it, hence the track saw. I have watched quite a few videos on rail square and parallel guides but I thought I'd ask the question of people who use them daily. As I said, only occasional parallel or rip...

TS 55, accuracy of rail squares

Although I have had a couple of lengths of elu track and the small elu "floorboard saw" since the 80's I rarely used it as accuracy and finish were never great. I have just bought a TS55 and already have a couple of lengths of track. The finish on 1" ply was really quite good but I could have...

how much is the Benchdogs rail square MK2 Festool in the UK?

Still no reply from Benchdogs. I'm probably just too old but it shouldn't be too much to expect an answer. Puts me off buying one. I could take the view that if they are not bothered about answering a simple question through the website their customer service will be poor too.

    Routing 20mm dog holes

Take the Lancia Stratos, an iconic Italian rally car. The 2 companies producing affordable kits are both English. When you need parts where do you look, despite the parts being from other Italian cars, the UK.

    Routing 20mm dog holes

This is also the case in Italy. Italians cannot believe that someone in the UK would build a kit car or a telescope.

It'll cost you as much or more than a lot of LN tools.

how much is the Benchdogs rail square MK2 Festool in the UK?

Not that simple. You have to declare a value, if it is an expensive item you want it insured, especially if you're having it sent to Italy. couriers charge 20 euro just to calculate the vat so it often isn't worth it
