I started to make one with uhmw bar at 6mm I found it too floppy.

One for the Americans and Canadians

I have been a member of Stackry in the US but unless you want to buy several items it still works out very expensive.

The CMT blade cleaner works well.

Mitre gauge - bar depth (V27)

I have a V27 for my Startrite. I bought a piece of gauge plate, 3/4x1/4 18" long. It needed honing slightly on the narrow faces, I used 3M lapping film glued down to the tablesaw table, then stuck the V27bar to the new bar with double-sided tape and marked the holes, drilled and tapped. Works well.

    Fig stump

The sap of fig plants can be irritating to the skin and cause a severe reaction in hypersensitive people and pets. from Gardners world .com. I have several fig trees which have the occasional prune, I think unless you are allergic to figs it is unlikely to kill you.

Sounds almost as complicated as Italy.

One for the Americans and Canadians

A neighbour in Italy works for HP and occasionaly visits San Diego. She said I could ship an order, from Canada, to her friend and she would bring it back. When ordering from Lee Valley you pay the taxes upfront but Rob Cosmans store says there are no taxes or duties to pay when they ship to the...

Best handsaw to cut 30-40cm diameter wet log? Bow saw?

I'm obsessive, the type that needs to know the bits you can't see have had as much effort put in as the bits you can see. In my mind's eye I see a nice relatively flat face, the result of a workout with a hand tool.

Best handsaw to cut 30-40cm diameter wet log? Bow saw?

I'm not sure. A neighbour cut down the maple-type tree his wife planted more than 50 years ago, she wasn't pleased. I said I'd try and make something for her out of it but I'm not a turner.

Best handsaw to cut 30-40cm diameter wet log? Bow saw?

They're pretty short at the moment as they were cut for firewood. I have 3 chainsaws but I wanted to lose as little as possible.

Best handsaw to cut 30-40cm diameter wet log? Bow saw?

It really is very rough at the moment.

    That is what I thought.

Best handsaw to cut 30-40cm diameter wet log? Bow saw?

I think the only reasonably priced option might be a raker tooth Fiskars bowsaw.

Best handsaw to cut 30-40cm diameter wet log? Bow saw?

I have tried with western and Japanese saws, the coarsest I have, it's just too wet.

Best handsaw to cut 30-40cm diameter wet log? Bow saw?

I want to trim the ends of some maple-type logs before painting with end seal, at the moment they have very rough ends. What handsaw will give me a clean cut?

Small Parkside bandsaw, green one, not Scheppach

I don't believe I ever said the wheels shouldn't be coplanar. I did say I found the Snodgrass video helpful. Getting the wheels coplanar should not, in my opinion, be part of setting up. It should have been done at the factory.

Small Parkside bandsaw, green one, not Scheppach

Does anyone have experience with the small green Parkside bandsaw? I offered to set one up for a neighbour but no matter what I did the blade would not stay in the middle of the wheel. Either front or back of tyre but not in the middle. He had been running it straight out of the box, with no...

Record Power BS350S Bandsaw Modifications - Part 1: Blade Guide Upgrade Using Rikon Tool-Less Kit

Why do you think the new Rikon blade guides are so much better? I recently bought the Hammer N2 35 which looks like another clone of the Record, but the blade guides, apart from being a little awkward, to adjust seem to work fine.

    Bandsaw bearings

I've heard great things about them but I'm still waiting for a reply to an email sent in September 2021. I'm not sure they're keen to deal with enquiries outside the US.
