What is the going cost for boiler replacement these days

There are a lot of ranges of prices on here, and some that clearly cite that some HE's are way over priced, and i am sure there are some that are too. But overall, if you don't wanna get your fingers dirty, and you don't wanna go crawling the net for a cheap boiler then you are gonna pay -...

Rebuilding a log cabin type summer house. Insulation advice

For the floor, be careful, don't create a bug and rodent nest by just hanging some lose insulation. If you can, I would put some thin marine ply on the underside, well treated if vented under there and rainwater clears it should last well. Then some celotex inbetween, and then of course the...

    FINISHED.New pics. Media/library unit,floor,sashes,panelling

That looks awesome, something unique, bold, perhaps not not all tastes, but a fantastic outcome. How did you mount the mdf on the wall? Guessing, as an old house, that nothing was straight and true.

    humidifier recommendations ?

Workshop in new place is currently on 94% humidity. Things are starting to turn orange, in fact, even stuff in the festool boxes is getting damp now. So may have to sort a dehumidifier 24/7 like above, is it expensive to run?

Magnificent floor, good post, thank you for taking all the time to post this.

    shed insulation

You must vent outside. If you vent inside, you get cold air coming in, warm air going out, what's the point of insulation then? Just leave some gaps at the eaves, and again, put in some mesh to keep free of nasties. In the UK today houses are ending up too "airtight" so stale air hangs...

That looks dry..... How was the floor done?

    shed insulation

I too have found this confusing, and am about to do this same, but from what I have gathered, the following as some tips: Base, though I know you've not asked about: Consider something to stop any guests making a home under the shed, like some rodent mesh etc round the perimeter so air still...

Fein Supercut v Festool Vecturo (or a Multimaster?)

To second the above, though green and grey is great, I am not sure that you get a whole load more with the Festool. The Fein is very well built, though the box it comes in, in my experience, is utter crap.

    Refinishing Oak Veneer

Afternoon all, Hoping someone has some ideas how to refinish some oak veneered MDF that was previously done in Rustins Plasticote. Sadly water has got into the surface (think via some household chemical bottles) that has marked and darkened the surface. I also have some solid american black...

Whats more practical, HVLP or Airless?

Thanks, really useful input. I have this model in mind, as it's hand held, goes up to around 2000psi and so could do many things. http://www.airlesspro.co.uk/graco-truco ... 2435-p.asp RobinBHM, I would imagine the unit being handheld has a smaller volume needed for priming the gun. In fact...

Whats more practical, HVLP or Airless?

Hello, I currently have a Fuji Q3 HVLP set up that I have only used a couple of times, but got some goos results on some cabinets with some oil based paint and some water based product. I have seen the Graco Airless Gun set up, and must say looks pretty good as smaller and more suited to the...

    Router table insert

The Trend is essentially plastic, and thus despite the thickness the "crown" allows for the fact a good 2kw router will weigh a bit and slowly level it out. Many people have long mooted the pros and cons of a entry level plate vs that of the UKJ, or Incra one. Aluminium plates shouldn't...

Scheppach Planer & thicknesser hms 2600ci

I have one of these, bought along with the table saw. Well worth it, once you have the table set up right it gives a great finish and dust extraction linked to a dusty bin is very good. Is not quite as large as some of the other machines out there, though is heavy. Get it for a number starting...

    Dust Extractor Tripping Electrics

Hi All It seems my trusty DX5000 has an issue that is doing some weird things with the electrics in my shed. If it's plugged in, even if it's off or indeed running, it seems to cause the RCD to trip. What is odd, is the extractor will work for a few minutes and then trip everything off. Then...

Kitchen extension Mega build. Photo heavy!

Great to see someone take the time to show us how it's done, great job you've done there. For me though, the thing that really made me laugh is the fact your partner had your dinner on its way as you're about to smash through the wall, good skills!!!!

    Is there a painters "bible"

I wish there was too. I have always thought about if it would be possible to start a listing of various products, with ratings, how they work, what best used for, etc etc, almost like the listings in the back of WhatCar magazine. It's very easy to go out and spend a lot of money on products...
