    Ceiling speakers

Hi, Have you consider something like a bose system, they have tiny speakers and a seperate subwoofer. High frequency sound is directional, so you will get a better stereo sound if it is firing towards you to where you are sitting. The bass is non directional, and largely makes no difference...

    Checking Diagonals, version II

Why not just unscrew an extending aerial from an old radio and use that? Pretty accurate and no need to make anything. Or pinch one from your other halfs car?

    Check out this table!

Wow that is damn clever. Having looked at some of the other clips it looks like there is some seriously clever spiral sliders underneath that, and on the others the rim seems to drop to support the table and rise at the last bit of the turn to meet the underside of the extended table. I doubt...

    Mail order timber?

Thanks for the Southampton place, do they store it well? What kinda selection do they have? I went to goodwillies just outside portsmouth, sadly their sheds are pretty run down so alot of the wood is pretty wet given this last bout of bad weather. real shame as good choice but half is just...

    Company information?

The rules governing US companies are different to those in the UK. The Uk is more strict with accounts required to be filed at companies house on an annual basis and maybe even an audit if the company is large enough. Oddly the US is more relaxed UNLESS the company is a listed company on a...

New Circular Saw Blade - Freud vs CMT??

If you see them anywhere try Gomex blades, they are not cheap, but they seem to do a very good job indeed. They seem better engineered than my Freud ones. Don't know about CMT. I guess at the end of the day any of these brands will produce a good quality cut.

    Scheppah ts2010

Steve, Thanks for the reply. In answer to your question I had the same issue, and after much fiddling with the allen bolt adjusters that the slide rail sits on just within the black mount on the side. I got there in the end. It was trail and error as you need to adjust the bolts with the...

    Scheppah ts2010

Hi, I have this saw too. Don't you find that with the sliding carriage you still get some play on that little bolt that is meant to lock at 90 degrees, its a pain as you can't trust it to just drop in and cut away. Any tips anybody has on getting the blade at perfect right angles would be...

    A question for Terry Smart

Lord Nibbo, At risk of having Terry on my case, I would say just go for a carefully applied number of layers of oil. G

    Walnut Sanding and Finishing

As an update I have now tried both the oil and and acrylic, and I have to say that the oil looks 10 times better. On recommendation of above I have sanded down to 400 with the grain. I am new to all this too, but will be investing in a scraper, but still don't fully understand how they are used...

    Walnut Sanding and Finishing

Thanks for the replies so far. I am making a top and shelfs to go in a bathroom. Its well ventilated and they won't get wet, but if somebody puts a wet shampoo bottle on there then I need a finish that would allow you to just wipe it down. I have hidden storage for everything so really the...

    Walnut Sanding and Finishing

I have two questions that as a newbie I am a bit stumped on so far. I have been using some walnut and got to point of finishing it. Having planed it all down I have taken a ROS to it in progressive grits down to 400. It's great except for there are very very small scratches even on 400 grit...

    please recommend kitchen fittings suppliers

I have used IsaacL a few times now and they have been very good indeed, very helpful and when you compare prices to the likes of B&Q it makes you think how much money they must make on some items.

    Workshop break in

As the the general sentiment is from everybody here then i can only echo whats been said already. The very sad situation we seem to be in at the moment is that the sick individuals that did this have the upper hand still. I think its a great pity that the criminals now seem to have one up as...

    Gomex Saw Blades

I have had a rather expensive Gomex blade waiting around in my workshop for the past few months. Its been waiting to make some sawdust out of some walnut. Used this weekend and what an amazing bit of metal wizardry. For some reason whilst spinning it was alot more quiet than my usual blade, but...

    Bosch GHO 26-82 Planer

Hi, I have a green one, not as flash I know, but is very good. The only gripe which I am sure is common to most is that it clogs inside easily as there seems to be some kind of lip inside the port that catches on the shavings. This can be a bit annoying but other than that it works very well...

    Painting Over a Stained Fireplace

Cheers Paul, on my way down to B&Q now, those orange reciepts seem to accumulate far too easily.

    Painting Over a Stained Fireplace

A few years ago I stripped back and stained an old fireplace surround that was previously painted in a pretty hideous colour. Now I am changing the room a bit and it would look pretty good painted a plain white (well, that's what the other half thinks). (Then again I am taking her to Axminster...

    Cutting Straight with a Jigsaw

Thanks All I have been using just for short runs, the don't quite merit the full table saw approach. I will have a look at those blades and do as suggested and see how I get on. G
