Adam did you change the jumper settings on the old disk drive to a slave??? If not your new PC could not detect which drive was the bootable drive and would hang. Barry

    Cyclone design software, Barry

Ivan the main discussion is on the 1D3D and the 2D2D whereas Pentz's is 1D1.64D. He derives D from 3 times the pipe diameter but other than the length of the total cyclone I have missed how he came to 1.64 verses 3?? Barry ps Maths in the PhD is OK - slowly plodding through

    Extraction advice needed!!!!!!

Cumbrian start off by going down the vacuum route - the choice is more to do with your budget and space requirement/ equipment. I would not go the dust extractor route as Felder said they are the biggest re distributors of fine dust around the workshop and require the addition of filters etc to...

Barnes Branch & Co Ltd ---- Vastern Timber Co anyone use

I visited their workshop with Engineer One about a month ago. A number of their saws are over 50 years old. They are still located just off the high street in the middle of town behind the bus station. They mainly serve the trade and have a large selection of wood in a number of buildings on the...

40 or 60 tooth circ saw blades

Scooby I have got the Triton 235mm 2000W motor and I went from a 24 tooth to a 40T and was very pleased with the results. Yes I had to run the work a little slower but I was not prepared to keep changing the blade. I also bought a 60T tripple cut blade but that requires you to slow the work down...

    Extraction advice needed!!!!!!

Ivan the small cyclones of mine allow up to about 50litres of dust/chips to be collected before they have to be emptied. Very very little of the dust gets through to the vacuum. Most of my testing is with a 2000W domestic vacuum but I also used Engineer One's Trend and had the same results. The...

Ivan is is a silencer/baffle/muffler or whatever you want to call it. It takes out about 9 or 10dB. Helps to reduce the 3HP motor noise

For vacuums there are 3 or more options and from my testing the Pentz 6" baby cyclone is not the best option - an Aussie Studie version modified by a number of people including me works best of all. This is the Pentz's version I also made a version of the dual cyclone - the Dyson theory...

Pecker with the cyclone do you see any dust buckets???? No the cyclone does the work but its not to Bill design - I broke the rules and it works Barry

Cumbrian sorry we have hijacked your thread as most of the comment are theory and having got the tee shirt I thought I would show you some pictures. This is how I converted my biggest dust producer (a dust extractor) to something that will do a far better job An extractor with the bottom bags...

Mark I felt that the Mods on the USA site let it go until legal action was about to occur then they got cold feet and pulled the post. You have got to realise that two business are at stake(Oneida and ClearVue) and feelings are running higher than on this thread. It is almost impossible to get...

    Extraction advice needed!!!!!!

I don't care what you use to separate the dust from getting to the filters but you must agree that dust (mainly fine dust) drops the efficiency of the filter. In most commercially available systems today the filters are too small and the micron claims of most are not up to standard and as...

    Review: Decking Screws

I have the DW impact driver after comments on the BB - You are in a different world to those who use a drill as a driver. Most scews work - very few snap - Pozi scew heads are not a problem either. - decking is a doddle. Barry ps just the right tool for the job

    Extraction advice needed!!!!!!

The Trend airshield is only a start but better than nothing (I have one). If you are going to build hoods for your equipment try to make them at least 4" for the SCMS and TS etc. For your hand tools a 1 1/4(32mm) or 2"(50mm) attached to a vacuum with filters and some form of dust bucket The...

Les lets hope you can make a few more posts before Tony consigns it to the graveyard section - hale Byron & WizeR - but you are north of the Watford Gap - lets hope. I will get my wrists slapped again in the morning or worst. Byron don't despair keep building that shed - you are a star -...

Pipe dreams are made of this

I was about to re locate to the south of France as I have a number of my friends with houses there and my daughter living in Paris but alas daughter is being transferred with husband to Brazil - SWMBO was happy until daughter was going to Brazil. Mates there say you can get loads of work if you...
