    dust extraction

The main advantage of plastic it that you can change your mind and re design the pipe work with ease With metal that would have been more trouble. I got it wrong to many times - this or that did not work with the extraction attached. Re arranged my workshop 4 times on installing the pipe work...

    dust extraction

Mike this earthing problem with plastic is old wives tales. There is so much from the science side that says its not true.

    dust extraction

I installed the above ground pipe as I did not want the below ground colour and the price was not much different at the retail level. In the end it costs much more than you expect if you use Y junctions rather than T junctions for better flow of dust. You have to convert the 110mm soil pipe to...

    Bargain Maybe?

I started out with the B&Q Power Pro - the fence was no good - used timber and clamps - I totally abused the saw - left it out at night - it got rained on. After 18 months the £129 purchase was taken back to B&Q and I told the girl that I did not have a receipt but she told me to bring it in and...

Kity NVR Problems - electrial help

Replaced the old Kity NVR with the one from Trend on the E bay auction. Discovered that the French use the neutral for the circuit as apposed to the live that is used in the UK so I connected the black from the motor to the Blue (neutral) on the 13amp plug. The plug goes into the plug point on...

    Triton MOF001 1400W Router

Ray,after all that work and you are still delighted with the router, I will have to go back and test the router again. I have tended to use a light weight 1/4" router for dovetails but you got it done with the heavier Triton. I am impressed Thanks Barry

Kity NVR Problems - electrial help

I have an old Kity bandsaw and the NVR works most of the time and when it stops working you have to unscrew it and turn it upside down to get it to work. I bought one of the Trend NVR's from Trend. I have the following going to the saw after the NVR Yellow/Green - earth Blue - Neutral...

    Triton MOF001 1400W Router

Thanks Ray for your review. My wife would love your scale. I found the baby router closer to 5 kgs but who knows. It was too heavy for me as a hand held ( even if I bench press 70Kgs)- I love the big beast at closer to 6.1 kgs - the grunts great but it stays in the router table. I decided to buy...

    Shutters

Colin that bit is not quite right but have you consider the length of blades you have to make?. With a router you have to do 4 passes as well. Most who make them use a spindle moulder with a customer made bit so that you only have to do 2 passes per blade. The shutters that I have examined in...

    Shutters

Jason if you use the plantation shutter idea the rod is of wood and the blades are stapled to the rod - they work well. I have the plans for the Norm version although the program has not been shown here. Barry

    extracting mdf dust

I saw where you were coming from but with the filter stand made and wanting to use the baffle I gave up on your idea. With my current roof height, the motor will be above the roof rafters. I think I will complete the impellor case next then decide when and what to do. Thanks Barry

    extracting mdf dust

This is a picture of the final bits for the cyclone The filter stand has a blast gate at the bottom to collect any dust that passes through the filters. I need help testing the baffle. It has a 6" inlet and a 6" outlet. I have used PVC pipe for the body to reduce the noise. It opens out to...

    extracting mdf dust

This is the next step for me. I have already built the filter stand and a baffle to reduce the noise. The debate at present is either to suspend it from the roof rafters or side mount it on the wall. I also can't decide if I will replace the impellor case from the extractor with a Pentz's...

    extracting mdf dust

Just to let you guys know after a weekend's work in the workshop there was no dust in either of the plastic dust bags so it all ended up in the cyclone. I have now tried to clean out by banging against the side of the filter - some dust fell into the bags but I have not done that since I...

    Shop vac modifications

Nikki your filter will block up quit quickly. I think you will get better results if you use a sinle pipe out of the drum to the vacuum. This is the one that I got the best results from TOP Bottom Barry

    Uk Workshop Get Together

Philly's idea is great but why won't other members open their workshops also that weekend considering the distribution of members throughout the county. May be the moderators could organise it???
