What did you do in your workshop today ?

Looks great Paul! Very similar to my own which I made about a year ago.

    Wadkin RS restoration

Looking gorgeous as per your usual standard Mark. Can’t wait to see this one done! What condition are the bed ways in out of curiosity? They look pretty rough.

    Ultex diamond stones offer

I must be lucky. I bought the same three and they are all dead flat. Can’t get a .001” feeler gauge under my straight edge at any point no matter how I orient the edge. More than flat enough for me.

    Ultex diamond stones offer

Clever gadget Fez but seems a bit much for sharpening a few knives. Just had a check and it seems that the combo stones aren’t on offer anyway.

    Ultex diamond stones offer

I’ve got a steel but you can’t rely on that method every time as eventually you still need to hone the edge. So - what combination of grits would folks use for that (from the Ultex range)?

    Ultex diamond stones offer

If you had to get a combination one for kitchen knives which would you pick?

What to make out of old T&G solid oak flooring?

Bloody hell! You don’t half take watching TV seriously in your house!

    Non-Wobbly Utility Knife Recommendations

These are the ones I mainly use: The 199 is solid but does not have slide in/out blades. Not a problem if you manage to retain the blade cover as I have. The other one I use for marking out. Again not a quick change blade but that’s no bother as it is sharpenable. Both are by Stanley.

W692 3hp Double Bag Dust Extractor

Indeed! I picked it up for about £100 off Gumtree from a local joinery shop that had just installed a monster 5 bag system. I don't think it was used that much as they had another couple of single bag machines they were selling as well. Turns out it's an ActivAir machine, designed and made in...

W692 3hp Double Bag Dust Extractor

My extractor has these little hooks on it that keep the bag in place while you get the strap tightened up. I thought they all had that tbh as it makes changing bags a doddle!

Trying linseed paint - £141.68 for 1 litre

That’s what I thought Jacob which was why I was so keen on trying it. This thread just makes it seem like an almighty faff and nigh on impossible to get right. All jokes aside I probably will give it a go sometime but this thread has made me weary. I dislike painting as it is and had hoped...

Trying linseed paint - £141.68 for 1 litre

A little while ago I was dead keen on trying linseed oil paint. This thread has put me right off that idea though!

    1/2” template trim bit

Thanks guys - Mike does that second one have bottom cutters? It must be able to plunge for my needs.

    1/2” template trim bit

Hi gang and happy new year. I’m looking for a 1/2” shank and diameter router bit with a top bearing and bottom cutters (to enable plunging). Needs to have at least 19mm of cutter depth but ideally a little bit more. I can’t find one on the Wealden site and was hoping someone here could point...

    10" Mitre Saw

I’ve got the LS1018 which is the modern version of the 1013. Had it for a few years now and very pleased with it. Loads of capacity and very accurate. Does have a laser but I ignore that - bit of a gimmick if you ask me.

Planer thicknesser .... which one which brand.

That model has two motors though so swapping out “a motor” needs to read as swapping out “the motors”. I have no experience of phase converters but I do wonder how relevant the risk of bogging down would be on a planer thicknesser once the big heavy cutter head is up to speed? On a table saw...

Planer thicknesser .... which one which brand.

That’s basically what I like so much about the Sedgwick, it just does what it’s supposed to do with zero fuss. Big timbers, small timbers, half a mill or two mill. No bother time after time. Every 6 months or so I check the fence is still square - complete waste of time. Nothing short of nuclear...
