INCRA Miter Gauge 1000SE retailer? (or anyone selling used?)

I haven’t tried an incra but I do have an Osborne and it has been great for me for the past few years.

Replacing collection bag on a HVLP dust extractor

My extractor has these little hooks on it just above where the spring band goes to clamp bags in place. I simply hang the bag on the hooks then slide the band in to place and done. The last time this topic came up I was surprised to learn that every extractor didn’t have something similar tbh.

    A bodgers workbench

That’s interesting. I have 4 Record QR vices in front of me. 2 definitely in the post 60’s era, the other 2 60’s or earlier. None of them have the cover. I always thought the cover was mainly available in the earliest variants but I could be wrong. There was a thread on record vices in the hand...

    xmas presents for youngsters

Aah the dolphin. Have thought about making her a Neptune’s trident? Or if you do make her a box, perhaps one that is mermaid shaped? As for her mate - a Cyprus shaped box would seem to be appropriate - could you give one of those a try? Actually if you go down the Cyprus shaped box route you...

    xmas presents for youngsters

I don’t know bob but have you thought about, you know, a bandsaw box perhaps? :)

    A bodgers workbench

Perhaps (I’ve been called worse things than a heretic :)) but I’d say that, for me at least, the 53 is better than the 52 1/2 for the same reason the 52 1/2 is better than the 52 in that you can still hold smaller stuff in a bigger vice but not bigger stuff in a smaller vice (I have all three...

    Toy box/chest

Thanks Ray but I have to say that is was not all hand tool work (far from it). Planing and thicknessing was all done with machinery as was cutting the stock to rough width and length. I’d love to do more projects with only hand tools but with a full time job, wife and three kids all competing...

    A bodgers workbench

I don’t know (and I don’t want to start an internet war or anything) but I think the record 53 might have something to say about that :)

New Parallel Jaw Clamps from Rutlands

Ah yes. Sorry I have no experience of the new red ones.

New Parallel Jaw Clamps from Rutlands

These are the longer ones: https://www.rutlands.co.uk/sp+hand-tool ... a+m_dkbc31 I wouldn’t say they are bad, just not as good as the besseys. Not quite as heavily built and for whatever reason not able to apply quite as much pressure. Still good though IMO and worth the money.

New Parallel Jaw Clamps from Rutlands

I’ve got a set of the longer ones. Not as good as besseys but a quarter of the price. Worth the money IMHO.

Do you have both a RAS and table saw?

I have both a canting spindle, sliding table dimension saw (Wadkin) and a RAS. They are useful in their own ways and I will be keeping both although the RAS is only used for cross cuts and housings (never ripping). I prefer the RAS to the SCMS as it’s much quieter and has better capacity...

New member - Looking for some buying advice!

Tools are definitely easier to acquire than skills. Decide what you want to make and then see if you can get yourself on a course run by someone with knowledge and experience. I wish I had done this myself instead of bodging around in my shed with tools that I could not make the best use out of...

    Peel lid box

Ahh gotcha. Thanks. I think I will have a go at some point - for a Christmas pressie or something.

    Peel lid box

That looks great Pete. I don’t suppose you took any photos while making the peel lid did you? I quite fancy having a go at one.

2 streets rule would be more appropriate for my eldest!

Loooool! My eldest two are the same! Does yours do the musical.ly thing with the little music videos on a phone as well? My 13yo thinks she’s a cross between Beyoncé and Kim K

    Toy box/chest

Cheers Chris - my thoughts exactly on the fixability going forward. Hopefully it will last long enough to see out her current interest in slime making and be put to use caring for her next fascination. I can see myself making a few fixes to it along the way though I must admit! It may even...

    Toy box/chest

Thanks for the kind words everyone. She loves it and can now happily play without risking the wrath of her mother all the time! Only problem is daughter #1 and wifey are jealous and want something for themselves as well. I’ll have to squeeze those in along with the kitchen build I have been...

    Toy box/chest

In time honoured memzey tradition, after starting the box I got distracted, had to do a bunch of other stuff for SWMBO, went on holiday, then knuckled down and actually finished this project, all without updating this thread :). Before I put up the photos of the finished piece I’d like to share...
