    Extractor Fan Connection diagram

I realise this is not a woodworking subject but I welcome your advice. I need to wire in a Manrose BVF 100 extractor fan. Safely done with all elecs isolated, I have used a 3 way connector and broke into an adjacent 2.5mm live feed and supplied L, N & E to the "incoming" side of a 5A switched &...

    Speed Awareness Course

I support sploo words "The rather more chilling part was the assessment that those hit at 40mph who do survive are - I'm sanitising the language here - not necessarily lucky to survive"....... I was a fireman and had the awful words from a woman survivor, 5+yrs after her high speed car crash "I...

    hearing

Thanks Jacob..BTW change bass to guinness and forget the crisps and we could have the same tagline. OK...so when I figure out fully how to use my smartphone I may be able to consider private HAs. I will look after the NHS gadgets i.e. they will probably sit on a shelf where I can see them..My...

    hearing

Wow..£2k for one HA. I have just been tested and told I need 2 x HAs. The NHS is to supply me with such in a few weeks. But, should I be looking for perhaps smaller better private type HAs. BTW: The very helpful young lady testing my hearing was confused when I said "my hearing was probably...

    2 stroke garden machinery frustration

I agree and needed to clean out my carb..i.e. strimmer would start and run but would not rev up...I used "problem start spray" (??quick start) or similar name direct into carb and pulled and started the strimmer which it did with a bang and then it run on idle and on rev up... my uneducated...

It's taken a long time to build this, because I'm lazy.

Never heard of Temu until this post. Just spent £50+ on things I hadn't realised I needed.

    Walking/Steps app for Android

Thanks John Brown I would generally agree about "However, I wouldn't worry too much about inaccuracies or exaggerated step count. It's not really an exact science" but she counted couple of hundred steps as a test when the gizmo had told her 5k + steps..I said she was proba;y running after a...

    Walking/Steps app for Android

Thank you everyone We have tried a cheepy wrist worn unit which gives false/exaggerated step counts and is to small of a dial for the lady to read. she/we are hoping the smartphone app will be an accurate step counter and large enough readout for her eyesight. Does she need to hang the phone...

    Mortar Mix clean up

I have (stupidly) got 3 adjacent areas, about 1msq a lot of sand & cement mortar mix on my 1850-ish slate floor. The slate is old but has been stored outside for about 25years so no polish on it. I am considering scraping as much as possible of the dried mix off and then using soapy water to try...

What is the optimal workbench length for you

It was probably us 'out of towers' who called it a theatre. I joined Coventry FS in 1965 and one of my early menial jobs at about 0700hrs was the polishing of a brass plaque o/s the Hales St fire station opposite the theatre/hippodrome. It was a menial but v pleasant job. Mini skirts had just...

What is the optimal workbench length for you

Thank you for your correct naming of what was locally & simply called the the Coventry Theatre; it was of course the Hippodrome. I am pleased to hear that the Belgrade albeit subsidised by Coventry Council i.e. tax payers remains open. I wonder if the little pub immediately behind it remains...

What is the optimal workbench length for you

I was given some 6' 4" mahogany 10" x 2" thick boards from the beer++ bar when Coventry Theatre was being demolished. OOOOPS I should have said closing as a theatre not being demolished; they pulled it apart about mid 1960s, closing the bar and reducing its national standard; it stayed open as a...
