    Wood worm

hopefully not a concern but my workshop is an old farmers barn with some gnarly old miss match roofing Timbers. There was evidence of wood work when I moved in but nothing recent to my knowledge. I sprayed it all when doing the work and again about 2months ago. I was getting some ash off the...

Hi there i am off to north America in Next May to see a mate and last time I visited him I left some room in my case for a few bits. I was more doing general carpentry then so picked up a nice framing hammer and some decent layout squares and accessories. My question is what would be on your...

    Moth repelling red cedar veneer

Interesting that it has a strong smell, promising for aromatic cedar veneer. I think moth traps is always a good idea but really want to make sure cedar veneer is not a wasted effort.

    Moth repelling red cedar veneer

Yes I believe red cedar is what I need and it seems I can get aromatic Easter red cedar veneer. Just not sure if the veneer would have enough of the repellent qualities. Really hoping to get some first hand experience here.

Best Set Up for Hitachi / Hikoki M12V2 in a DIY table?

I actually still own this router and apart from the fact you need to pack out the depth of the guide bushes or change the router base it’s a brilliant machine. I also did a similar thing to what you are suggesting before i setup my workshop. Things to watch are the router is very heavy and...

Uk made screws and drill bits

Thanks for your concern, the companies you mentioned either only make machine screws/bolts etc or import everything else other than the carpenters mate range which seem uk made and looks interesting but only useful for external work, however I will order a sample pack to check them out. it’s a...

Thanks for the reply, I have seen London screw but couldn’t see much in the way of wood screws from them, I will check the others to see if they are made in the UK. I currently use spax and was toying with a wurth account but have noticed that some of the supply on tools from The EU is not...

    Inset hinged ???!!!!

Thanks for the quick reply but soft close plus the ease of adjustment are my reasons for avoiding Butt hinges. I can get a 18mm spacing plate for Blum but no other brands and tbh even the Blum ones are hard to source in bulk.
