    COMMENTS PLEASE !

HS, its looking a lot better, I like it. From a personal preference I would prefer to see the same font used thoughout. This is noticeable in the Portfolio area each section appears to be in either a different style or size. Andy

    Kitchen hobs - advice please

Are there any running cost comparisons available for the various different hob type? I've long since been curious to know the most cost effective to cook for example to boil water, Electric kettle, kettle on hob (halogen, induction, electric rings, gas rings etc), or even Microwave. Andy

I need to plan a workshop in a single garage

Simon, welcome. My approach to acquiring tools over the years has been driven by the projects I want to build and the materials I want to use. I have never made anything from MDF and ply sheets I have cut to 4'x2' before I bring them home. I do have a TS on wheels in an 14'x8' shed. Because I...

How do you lay your plane to rest?

Adam, Yep I guess that is true too. I'd always thought I was more likely to put it down on an offending object rather than drop an offending object on it. Andy

How do you lay your plane to rest?

The reason I try and get into the habit of laying mine on their side is that on a cluttered bench (where there is work there is no order  ) I might not quite see what I am placing the plane on when I put it down. In storage they are wrapped in anti-rust paper and layed on their side in a...

    Riving knife

Oh I forgot - I did this once and have no intention of doing it again. I did not do the whole cut in one pass about 1/2" at a time IIRC. It was still scary. Andy

generally speaking I use both. Although I am prepared to remove both for nibbling tenons - fingers well out of the way, both hands on sliding carriage. Andy

    Oak bath finishing advice

Tom, you might like to have a look at Patina - available from Screwfix and elsewhere. Have a search around here for user comments. It is certainly water proof and very hard wearing. Andy
