    Re-sawing by hand

karl, excellent job and far less scary then starting with the TS. How long did it take you? I've just prepared a 6" x 9" board ( from a cherry log) which I hand sawed from the log. It took me about 2.5 hours. That's two cuts to get it out of the log and a lot of planing to get it flat. cheers...

    Re-sawing by hand

Karl, I did it like this the plank was only about 15" long though. The scary part was starting off with the table saw. I did about 4 or 5 passes on each side. This is not for the feint hearted and in truth I would not recommend it, but it did get the saw cut started nice and straight...

    Bathroom Limescale removal

Clear vinegar. Soak some kitchen towels then lay them on affected area, keep them moist (with vinegar - don't dilute with water). Leave them on over night at least or until the limescale dissolves. This should help. I use vinegar a lot to clean the kettle and remove the limescale from those...

Well on the basis that one should not pay someone to do a job that you have not at least tried to do your self I set to with the jig saw and metal cutting blade and plenty of WD40. I could get 2 pieces from the 50cm square sheet I had so if I did cock it up I could then try to get it done...

What is is the best method of cutting thin stainless steel sheet? I need to cut a piece of 0.6mm stainless steel sheet. The cut will be 65cm long so a hacksaw is out of the question. I have an angle grinder but was wondering if it would be better to glue the steel to a piece of...

    Hen's Den

Yeah, right. As they have names already (we've not even bought them yet) I think sitting down with my daughters knowing that we are just about to tuck in to Paulette might be more than they can bare. Our neighbour keeps chooks for the pot and slaughters them. If our first lot are a success and...

    Hen's Den

No Mike, afraid, it was a case of "design as you build" with many references to various web sites and fora as I went along. I basically made the 4 sides then screwed them together. The onduline roof sits on its own fame which is hinged at the front with spring latches to hold it down at the...
