Wadkin Time Warp Workshop - Kent

Some wonderful old machines there for sure but being the clumsy git that I am it wouldn't be five minutes before I was tripping over drive belt taking belly floppers onto spinning metal if it were a working shop. I wonder how many of a crew worked in that shop, it must have been quite hectic...

"""""HEAD TO HEAD MITRE GAUGE REVIEW"""""

I've just come across this thread while perusing the web and looking at Mitre gauges (sad for a Friday evening) Anyway, I have the Osborne mitre gauge, shipped in from the states by my sister who lives out there. Her husband is in the military so I have taken advantage of the domestic shipping...

Norm Abram Deluxe 2 Router Table

Mike - sounds very good, I built my router table/cabinet similar to Norms. The cabinet, fence and drawers are made from 18mm MDF. The top is made from 40mm plastic laminate kitchen top edge banded with 1" oak. I've had it for about 8 or 9 years and still going strong although I have recently...

Questions on working, buying and sourcing Maple

Chems - Thanks for the tip, I guess I 'll have to re figure as I was thinking of 20% waste. I still think it will work out cheaper than buying the blow moulded vynl doors and look 100% better.

Questions on working, buying and sourcing Maple

Yes, I am more familiar with the US means of calculating timber ( Iread too many yank mags), which to be fair makes more sense, at least to me. Cubic metres, doesn't even bear thinking about, although it does sound like a lot of timber, much more than a weekend WW would need to buy in one go.

Questions on working, buying and sourcing Maple

Marcros, thanks very much, not teaching me to suck eggs at all. I don't but that much timber form specialist mills, most of my timber is reclaim or bought in small amounts form local timber merchants so the terminology can get a little confusing when not used to it. I suppose I didn't want to...

Morning all, We are having our kitchen re fitted, long story short, swmbo was looking at shaker style vynil doors in Maple effect. Of course they are not cheap to buy so I got to thinking about making our own. If I was in the States I'm sure I could pick it up anywhere but does anyone know...

Thanks for all the feedback fellahs. I have by chance, had a couple of local suppliers slip their fliers through the letterbox so I'll have a look at local suppliers and ask a few pertinet questions. Thanks for taking the time out to respond, very useful. David

    Front door dilemma

Bob, thanks for responding, that hdoes help I guess the figure quoted is not too far off what a normal punter would have to pay for such a door, assuming you are in the trade and get it at trade prices. I have checked their website again, they seem quite confident their doors have the ability...

    So what do YOU wear?

The tank suit may be fine if you just want to stand in the corner admiring your shop or perhaps a little vertical painting. I wouldn't want to be doing much more, it would be like wading through treacle!

    So what do YOU wear?

Glad to hear it, I have a wooded floor too, kinder on the feet back and joints. Kinda reminds me of an old joke from years ago (Les Dawson I think) When we were kids, we were so poor, my mam used to buy a packet of polo mints when it was cold then breathe on us to keep us...
