    DEFT 10" tablesaw

Thanks for responding fellahs. Mark - Yes the deft takes a full dado, I know this has been a topic of much debate in the past but personally I cannot see why if an individual should want the the facility it should be denied them by EU legislation. I am a big fan of the dado. I have a couple of...

    DEFT 10" tablesaw

I have had the DEFT 10" tablesaw for a year now and very pleased with it. It is only for hobby use but wondered if anyone has one and how they rate it. I know it is a badged Laguna/Grizzly/Shopfox but would appreciate if any owner has found any short falls or failings with it? As much as I...

    Dulling down glossy vinyl doors

Thanks gents, I might try the wet and dry method, just to take the high gloss off it and blend in a little more with the existing doors. BB - I don't think varnish would not be practicable mate, that said, it is only for a short period of time and the doors will be thrown out in the not too...

    Dulling down glossy vinyl doors

Having just read a thread on creating a glossy finish it reminded me to ask my question. As a temporary measure we had to buy a couple of kitchen cabinet doors and drawers fronts to match the old kitchen doors, prior to me making new doors later in the year. The existing doors are a yinyl wrap...

Gripping Stock On The Table Saw

Just a bit of a gimmick, stick with the guard and riving knife and use push sticks

    Mitred fingers (stumps)

How about setting out a trip wire with a warning flare #-o I wouldn't be too happy with the "Boo" either, it would soon become a tad boring. I would politely ask him to refrain and tell him the reason why. If he persisted, a more less than subtle approach may be called for. I'm sure you...

    How noisy are portable thicknessers?

Hi Bob - No, not a like for like, I bought the Jet JPM - 13 Thicknesser. I had a Fox 13" bench top planer before hand, the thought of planing down wood used to fill me with dread. I always half expected to hear a knock on the wshop door from angry neighbours, although I probably wouldn't have...

    Mitred fingers (stumps)

I had a similar experience some years ago, though thankfully I didn't lose didgits. My wife's sister popped over to see her and thought she would pay me a visit in the shop. I was ripping some pine at the time with mask and gogles when came in and playfully slapped me on the backside. What a...

    How noisy are portable thicknessers?

Noise with these and all power tools is an issue, particularly as most of us are very close to our neighbours. I try to restrict my power tool activity to reasonable hours, particularly during the summer when other people may be out in the garden enjoying the sunshine (on those rare ocassions)...

DeWalt 1150 Planer thicknesser mortice and tenon cutters

Hi mate I think I have some of the cutters you are seeking. I bought the Dewalt thickness planer from a friend some years ago. I have since sold it on but I still think I have the cutters in the tool box mate. I never actually used them. I think I have 3 or 4 of them in different sizes. If you...

Thanks Jason for the reassurance. 15 years will do me, I won't be at the address that long.

    Workshop insulation worry

A couple of years ago when I built my workshop I insulated it with 75mm polystyrene sheets. I am now wondering if what I have done is correct. It's constructed from 100mm x 50mm frame with 18mm T&G siding. The roof (pitched)is sheathed with 19mm OSB then felted, so it's a wooden workshop. I was...

    Advice sought please

Thanks gents for the info. I guess I have nothing to lose by stripping it down, shame, as it was a really good saw and had virtually nil usage. Thanks David

    Advice sought please

Whilst not technically a "woody" question it relates to a WW tool, namely a 9" Skilsaw. Last summer whilst involved in an outdoor project I was trimming 2x6 pine studs. Anyway, I inserted the saw too quickly into the timber and had a kickback, whislt I suffered no harm (it certainly woke me up...

    Sourcing pegboard

Good to know that it still exists, particularly in the 6mm dims. I post a similar thread a while bnack and the come back was that 6mm hardboard was no longer made and that 6mm MDF had taken over where the OTH had once been prominent.

    Sourcing pegboard

I was perusiong the Jewsons website yesterday for ply wood. They have pegboard listed in their sheets goods section. I think it said it was 3.2mm thick. I didn't check out the price but it did say it was an economical product?? Good luck
