There's no such thing as a stupid question eh?

Unfortunately, I do not have the answer to your question. However, I believe the Stanley tool company bought the Bailey pattern/company back in the day. Therefore, I suspect there will be other Bailey planes which were not Stanley. Although I would guess it would be a rare and perhaps valuable...

Stanley 45 set up for profiling woes! - help!!

Andy, it wasn't until after I had cut the profile did it register that perhaps a 55 cutter in a 45 plane was not the best way to go about it. You will notice in photo 5 I removed the majority of the waste having drawn the profile. Unfortunately the auxiliary centre bottom is the one attachment...

Stanley 45 set up for profiling woes! - help!!

I am repairing an old carpenters tool chest, whereby parts of the lower back panel, both lower side panels and their attached skirting boards were rotted out. I suspect due to sitting on a damp floor for years. In the photo below you can see the repair to the bottom of the chest and the patch...

Spear & Jackson tenon saw refurb

The following are just some snaps of a few other back saws I have cleaned up and sold on. Not all that profitable, although every one of them were purchased by overseas buyers. I was very pleased to read all of the customers were delighted with their saws. I am really pleased about that.

Spear & Jackson tenon saw refurb

Thank you for the kind words gents, much appreciated. Yes, I have had used the saw (completed it a couple of months ago I suppose) the benefit of shaping the handle is of course test fitting until it feels comfortable in the hand. I have a large hand so taking more away from the horns allowed...

Spear & Jackson tenon saw refurb

The "modern" Spear & Jackson tenon saws could never be described as pleasing to the eye nor the hand. So, After many years promising myself to make a new handle for the old S&P I bought for 20p at a boot sale around 15 years ago I finally got around to making at least part of the promise to...

A box of 17 moulding planes and more

Congrats on the haul of old tools. I have just bought a few myself, they are indeed vastly different, and in my view more difficult to master than the later Bailey style of plane. No wonder apprenticeships then were so long back then. I suspect JP Wallace would have been the original owner of...
