A good router for a Leigh dovetail jig - advice appreciated.

Thanks boys, pretty much answered my question, in this case smaller it would appear is more suited. Much appreciated. David

    Another routing query

I have an ElU MOF 177E type 4, half inch router, old I know but works fanatically well. Does anyone know if there are sub bases to allow Freud type guide bushes to be fitted available. Does any of the Dewalt range of bases suit the ELU? Thanks again David

A good router for a Leigh dovetail jig - advice appreciated.

I have a rudimentary grasp of the router, however, and although I own a few, I have never utilised their range or expanded beyond the relative basics. Why? I don’t know, I suppose because I have often found a way of getting the job done without the mess, noise and fuss associated with setting up...

Very interesting and informative piece of written work Richard. Thanks for sharing.

    cyclone dust

I have a very similar set up. Yes, they do work very well, very little dust reaches the vac. Some talk of a drop in effective "suck" due to the seperator I can't say I have noticed it in mine. I doubt you will be disappointed.

    New workshop

Great space, I'm sure you will have fun in there. Good to see you are taking your security seriously. Is the shed overlooked by the farmer or surrounding residencies? Make sure too, if considering CCTV the data storage is protected. It's about the first thing intruders target. Also make sure...

    Earlex - Outstanding service

I recently purchased an Earlex HV5500 spray station, which was on offer, for an imminent project completion. I called the Earlex service centre for some advice on appropriate needle sizes for the finishes I intend to spray. The chap, Brian I believe, could not help enough, explaining what...

    anyone got a camvac

At risk of dragging this one out, I just want to convince myself that I am not actually going mad. My initial response to the OP's question mentioned making use of a brown paper grocery bag as a replacement filter for the Camvac motor. It was pointed out by one or two the bags were not actually...

    OSB for sheathing

I would have thought 11mm would be more than plenty for a shed, particularly when most house construction in the US makes use of 11mm

    Table for inside of Yacht

If you are concerned about the dampness and wood movement levels then why use solid timber?

Electric socket for large shop machines

If you are about to employ an electrician in to conduct some work I would simply tell him the machines you have and where you want them positioned. He will supply and install the necessary kit. Simples. All you then have to do is dip into your pocket.

    Breadboard end - Advice please

I think that may be the better option to be honest.Thinking about it, my only concern with that would be creating an accurate (ish) dovetail tenon on the panel. Unlike a planed flat panel the indivual boards making up the panel will leave an undulating surface which I can forsee being difficult...

    Breadboard end - Advice please

I intend to make a breadboard end on a panel to adorn the top of a small wardrobe I am building. I recently laid a solid oak floor in a back bedroom and to utilise some of the remaining boards I thought of using them to create the decorative top panel of the cabinet which will sit on top of...

    anyone got a camvac

Not something I would normally set out to do, although next time I'm in the shop I'm going to give it a go (not actually bust it, just enough to verify the theory). Then I'll offer you another large slice of that humble pie. (providing theory is correct of course)

    anyone got a camvac

I then bow to your superior knowledge! However the one on mine is, a paper bag, no lining, filter or other laminations.

    anyone got a camvac

I have a camvac, had it about 10 years although it is just the single motor version. It sounds like it is a supply issue rather than your motor. There could be several causes for the sparking and intermitent functioning of the motor however. It could as you suspect be the brushes causing the...

    workshop apron

I always wear one while in the WS, primarily to hold a tape measure, rule, pencils, mini sliding square, sandpaper and the clicker for my DC. The other reason, is to keep all the crap from sticking to my clothes so that when i go back indoors SWMBO doesn't chew my ear off about bring debris...
