    Electric Hand Planes?

    Simon, I assume you bought new belt and fitted it? How much was it and how long did it take to fit? I would be inclined to buy a spare belt and leave it in the tool box, so if the planer breaks the one in use, you have a spare ready to fit.

    More on the Jet 310P/T

    The cold does make a difference, the oil/grease in the bearings is more sticky, the bearings will be tighter and the so will the belt.     You should have a 16A 'C' rated breaker to cope with the starting surge that the motor will pull.

    I have seen this as well, makes me sad, :( those old Wadkin cast iron machines will go on almost for ever, if shown a little tlc. :-s
