    Lee J's new workbench build

The chuck was only held on using friction, this quite common and does work well. You need to clean both parts of the joint with something, I would use meths and then reassemble, with lots of pressure. When this happened to my drill press, I wound the jaws of the chuck inside the body and placed...

    dining table in oak

Bread board ends need to float as the cross grain long grain expansions will be different. The usual practise is to have one 'master' fixing on the centre line, any thing else must allow for the different amounts of movement.

    a practical mushroom

Well thank you for the nice comments. :D As for it being used I am not sure that will happen. My mum has a beech mushroom that was used for dads socks, but he just chucks out any that get holes in these days. I had a nice one, some sort of red hardwood, handle threaded into the top...

    Bandsaw blades

Dragon was taken out a little while ago when one of their big customers went to the wall, big shame as they were selling good blades. Matthew at workshop heaven has found another supplier who will make blades to odd lengths if required.

We have had LOMLs younger sister staying for a few days, on Sunday she asks if I can made a darning mushroom, of course says I, not until later do I find out she is going home on Tuesday. So last night, home from work, straight out to the shop, no time to look at the forum, :x select a...

    Belt slippage

Who sort of head stock bears does the CL1 have? Are the type that need oiling and they are running tight, in need of some lube?

    Dewalt Bandsaw

Pete, I would guess that the kick is either the weld not being done very well, thicker than the very of the blade or not properly in line or the blade has a kink in it due to being abused. If it were my saw I would buy a new good quality blade, they make a huge difference to the machine. I...

    Pictures

Pete, Sorry I did get your mail, but had to spend yesterday evening in the shop making something for delivery today. :D If you want to know what, look in the turning forum, I will be posting it up later. Have a look at this thread, hopefully one of the options there should work for you.

Another machine, Another dilemma (Look away Lurker)

Just scribe a line and get the hack saw out, it cuts real nice, if a little loud compared to wood.  Or of course you buy a suitable blade for the bad saw. (hammer)

    Morticer

Lee, The other to make the cuts and clearing of the waste smooth is to spray the bit with the PTFE lube sold for saw blades and router cutters.

    Drill, needs a motor

Bob, Yes the lay shaft is only on one bearing, I agree that its not good practise but I could not see any other way of doing it. If the belt tensions are set correctly (unlike the current lash up) I hope there should not be too much load on the bearing. :-k If you look this machine I guess...
