    Router Direction

I have about 150m of edge banding to apply over the coming weeks, and it's slow and boring work. Been watching a few videos to try and get tips, and so I can drool over things like the Festool edge bander... I noticed when trimming edges that a lot of them went the "wrong" way. Is this...

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

My plumber and electrician put plugs closer than that! Was a team effort as well.

    Planer/Thicknesser slightly bowing stock

As Rodd said, it does mean sort of dropping the piece on, and as you get closer to flat, that means it will impact the blade. Also I think you can approach flat, however you'll always have the end curving away off the end of the outfeed, if it's longer than the planer. The method I use, I am...

    Planer/Thicknesser slightly bowing stock

I could be talking rubbish here, and no one else has mentioned this, so I probably am, however I found that when I put the cupped sides or bowed ends down, which i felt offered better stability, and less likely to end up with the board thickness not well used, I never got a a really flat...

Cutting Down Large Panels - When the Lumberyard Didn't...

Thanks! That's the garage which I commandeer for cutting down large panels. I have a home office and therefore went over the 110m2 standard house size when building it, so they insisted I built a garage to take four cars as technically the house could be split into two apartments. Was not happy...

Cutting Down Large Panels - When the Lumberyard Didn't...

Having finished the kitchen, started on cloakroom. Going to be a bit of a cheaper job, so ordered 7 white laminated chipboard panels and a plain chipboard panel. Thing is here, they don't come in 4x8, they come 3m x 2m and the plain ones 4x2m. The lumberyard delivered them, and I found they...

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

I noticed the same when doing my kitchen, you really have very little worktop left front and back. I was constantly worried about it breaking when I moved it.

    Edge sanding, thin strips sanding

I think he needs flush joints he can't feel with the finger. He's going to try with multi-tool first. Anyone got a morso framing guillotine they don't need? ;-)

    Edge sanding, thin strips sanding

Interesting, he has a multi tool. I always found that difficult to keep even and straight on drawer edge for example. Sent from my GT-I9301I using Tapatalk

    Edge sanding, thin strips sanding

They are one inch to two inches. He's starting a framing business, so how many is hard to say ;-) Sent from my GT-I9301I using Tapatalk

Sanding picture frames, would you use a ROS or a palm sander. I would go palm to keep it flat, however my brother in law would like wider opinion.

For a camera I am considering the Canon legria 30. Seems to be a vast improvement on the 25 Sent from my GT-I9301I using Tapatalk

    Router Fence

I tried that, however the cost of materials, and then the tools means it's not really cheaper... SWMBO asked why i built a bookcase out of edged stained ply for 500, when it would have been £80 at ikea... "ah...", I said, "but these fit perfectly..." only reasonable defense i have yet been able...

    Router Fence

I have the wonderfence and it's really good. Need lots of space behind the blade to use it well though. Nice dust extraction, and you can use the offset feature which allows you to slide one side in or out a few thou like the full LS, you basically slide both sides. You can put a cut strip of...

    Drawer slider jig - Kreg?

I used the blum door hinge jig and it was so good, easy, accurate, and very fast. However not cheap. I imagine the drawer one is similar, however I used some mdf and then story board spacers for repeatable and accurate results.

    Thicknesser / jointer

Changing from planing to thicknessing is a pain IMHO on a single machine, as you have to wind the table all the way down, change extraction etc.. I often plane ten pieces, then thickness, then want to go back to planing... however, the lunchbox types have little infeed and outfeed support. On...

Jet Air Filter Noise and Movement When Off

I don't think so, there's a noise, GRRR like the sound of a motor being started when the belt it jammed, and it's straining, my TS used to make that noise when I had only 2kw power, and I had to spin the blade manually to get it to start going.

Jet Air Filter Noise and Movement When Off

Thanks. Just seems a shame that I have a unit with a remote, and I have to get another remote for the plug as well! If I was in the UK I'd send it back for repair.

Jet Air Filter Noise and Movement When Off

Yer, problem is I bought it from the UK. It's quite a beast and the transportation from Italy is going to be very annoying.
