    Worksharp 3000 discs.

There should be a new email from them... "Amazing once in a lifetime event, never seen before in our history.... The opportunity to buy everything at full price for one day only! You won't see this again this decade so hurry whilst stocks last!"

    Commisioning a chest of drawers

I was going to say that the OP appeared to do the sensible thing and retreat to a safe distance after pulling the pin from that particular hand grenade. or else £2k for what you can get for £40 in Ikea seems scary.... (of course it's not the same, but does SWMBO know that...) I must admit I...

    Finishing oil

if you want to use non-compatible layers, then put a coat of shellac in between, it acts as a natural binder. I have done oil to pop the grain, then shellac, then poly varnish for hardwearing, and turned out great. +1 for try on test piece first.

    Worksharp 3000 discs.

Horses for courses... I use a cheap (£20 from axminster visit) grinder for reshape / re-angle. Then use the WS3000 for all my blades where i want a fixed preset angle that it supports (about 95% of my sharpening needs) Then I use a quick scary sharp with honing guide for any cambers. These...

    what's actually scarier / funnier is this "reply" video.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... lkX2l92eRg

Pocket hole joinery for book shelves

Back to the OP, I would say there are two factors here. 1 - strength of the overall structure, and 2 - strength of the shelves. Also not sure there is one right answer. I haven't watched the video, so not sure what the construction details are, however if I were doing a 2m version of this I...

    why are they called dividers?

I have one of these and binned it first day. I could open one end to 2" whilst the other was still shut. Nothing equal bout them at all that i could see...

New workshop build, with a difference!

I've been trying to persuade my Italian chums of the benefits of imperial. Just ask them to divide 1 cm10 times ;-) Then to add up various fractions of a cm. Also they now understand why their ply comes in 19, 12.5 and 6mm thicknesses, (roughly)

    BIG lathe alert !!!!!!!!!!!

Rhyl is a childhood haunt and only 20 minutes from my parents... now just a question of getting it from there to Italy, oh and finding 3.5k in street....

new panel saw and planer thicknesser advice MJ12-1600 aw106

I agree with the track saw approach. My neighbour and my brother in law have big 3phase machines, which are really really nice, however once you get down to something smaller, in a smaller space, it just doesn't work as well. Getting a plunge saw and a rail is much easier to manage. Then you...

    Signing your work?

they have not sent me a "proper" quote, as the chap was off ill, however he said it was unlikely to be less than £160... Toolpost 38mm prices are about the same, however I cannot see the link to that anywhere on their site, so not sure if they do it still. I will have to email toolpost to find...

Record 043 - Great plough indeed!

What's the difference and rarity of the different numbers, seems to be a lot of 44,45,50 record planes out there? I do have a 50 which i got of the bay a couple of weeks ago, however have not been over to UK to pick it up, so not really sure what to expect...

    Rutlands....argh!!!!

One tends to feel they got too big too fast. Some of the cheap lines are low quality, however thats often what you get for cheap, and for an infrequent hobbiest on a budget, that could be fine. Their customer service, to be fair, are always friendly and helpful when you call them, i just think...
