    Frustrating mitres....

What's a guillotine cutter? I need to cut 90deg a lot, and so far the sliding table and the ts is ok, however not great, as not only does the tables's mitre need to be at ninety, but the direction of travel has to be perfectly parallel too. The setup of the scheppach makes this ardious at best...

    Frustrating mitres....

I have made some lengths of nice figured maple with sapele and walnut trim to make some picture frames, however have had a frustrating day trying to cut the mitres for them. Using my clarke disc sander I can get them to within 2 deg, as the aluminium table moves too much. Decided to use table...

    Which jaws?

I am not sure your figures are right. A 90mm circumference you say, that gives a diameter of about 3cm, and the other one less than 2 cm. That does not seem right. Assuming you mean a diameter of 90 and 60, then the 90 gives a larger volume held by the chuck, and the 60 the larger surface...

    Sketchup Pro?

The hobby version looks seriously limited, and is $100, the pro version is $500! most of us who do this even as a hobby, want the quality / features of a pro... unless the trial version really really gets me going, I can think of lots of nice things i can get with $1-500 8)

    Sketchup Pro?

Google has ditched sketchup now, basically given it back to the firm it took it over from... however it means it's likely to get more architect focused, and the 3d warehouse may disappear... make sure you keep a copy of the latest installer ;-)

    Bristol Lever

Out of interest, is the ratchet action like a ratchet wrench, or the old pull and turn style. pull and turn seem to get annoyiing after a while, (stiffer, gummed up, stripped threads), so if there's a proper ratchet style that would be great. If not, then i'll be sending off a form for...

    Dust extractor

I use a standard shop vac with a hook up drum,(numatic). I have the drum connected to my network of pipes and blast gates for stationary tools, and simply unplug the hose from the vac and plug in the standard shop hose for power tools. This means the minimum of switching. You could add the...

Good to hear, you think it's the same with the pumps installed as they might be less airtight?

    'Jack of all' glue

I know this is an old post but.. I have been looking at epoxy resin mixes recently, mainly to fill gaps, repair knots etc, and axminster sell the junior set, of which they say "You don't always want large quantities of resin and hardener sitting on the shelf, which is why we have introduced...

    New tools, job done!

No visible joints should probably be "no visible fastenings". I could put a picture, it's not got finish on or doors, just wanted to play with my new kit, and see how easy it made doing this kind of non-fine furniture. I suppose the main thing I learned was that with right tools / working...

    New tools, job done!

Took delivery of my "household"goods from London. Using ts55 to cut down sheet goods, and create a true reference straight edge, table saw to final dimension and kreg pocket jig to assemble, was able to make a kitchen cabinet style unit in just under two hours. No visible joints. Fact that...

    Best dovetail jig?

Woodrat gets my vote, although i disagree that it a router table "the right way up", (i like to see my fingers), the ability to do climb cuts is great. You can do fine dovetails. Bit fiddly to set up first time, but then you can blast through them, and if you like, sell it again after ;-) I...
