    Rutlands Covering Tracks

That can be true, however what about "independent" 3rd party sites like trustpilot? Also, reviews on Amazon and Axminster seem to be uncensored, I have put both good and bad reviews on Axi, and they all made it to the review section.

    Rutlands Covering Tracks

I gave up on Rutlands a while back when I realised after posting about 5 product reviews on their site, that only the ones with a 4 or 5 rating ever made it onto the review page. I contacted them about it at the time, however they refused to talk to me about it. But I still get emails, as...

    Silicon on plastered wall

Thanks, I have some ant-mould stuff like this, however I am more concerned with removing the unwanted 2 day old silicon at the moment. Yes, I meant just a strip ;-) However trying to replaster and blend even just a strip is a bit of a chore.

    Silicon on plastered wall

Thanks guys, I think... I don't feel I have too much silicon on there, I am trying to cover a bit of a gap, however using the "standard" corner of the plastic tool, i get really very little excess scraped off. One problem is getting a consistent bead, particularly where you have to release the...

    Silicon on plastered wall

Just tried that, made more mess than before. I'm probably just not very good at this. Blue tape worked much better, any ideas for removing from wall?

    Silicon on plastered wall

I tried in the "old days" to use a finger, however it always got sticky after a few inches... This is a poor video, but the first one I found, shows what I am doing now. Seems it won't work well against plastered wall though! https://youtu.be/wQxtQhpA5Vo?t=16s

    Silicon on plastered wall

I am putting my upstands in my utility room, and have a plastered concrete wall around the back. I do the bead, spray some soapy water on, then use one of those plastic scrapers to create the seal. When doing the corner where the laminate joins, it's easy, the rubber scraper works great...

Making use of washing machine motor

But you'd still need something like this with a new motor right? https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/dol-starter-6-3-10-amp/ I saw that other drum sander build, however i think this one might be better (perhaps also more complex though!) http://www.stumpynubs.com/two-stage-drum-sander.html

Making use of washing machine motor

I have an old Siemens washing machine motor, and would like to make something with it. Either a slack belt sander, or I might get ambitious and make the Stumpy drum sander... I watched a complex video by a German guy who was trying all sorts of things, and I noticed two points. 1. how do I...

What dust filtration units are people using?

I've got a Jet AFS-1000B Air Filtration System (there's also a smaller one) which is very similar to the Record, and just as quiet. Although I get the point about dust going past your face and up to the unit, I have been in my shop on a sunny day, light coming in at just that right angle, and...

    Circular Saw Crosscut Jig Depth

The taller the jog, the thinner the wood you can cut is. so if you have to fully extend to cut 1/4" wood, you could not cut 3/4" stock.

    ............

That's odd. I have the exact same sander, and I found the extraction to be surprisingly good. On both sanding areas. Mine goes across about 6m of 2.5" ducting, through a collection box, and then to a shop vac. The only things I could possibly think of to add extra extraction would be the...

    Router Table Box/Finger joint jig

I would have thought the pertinent part is that the jig was good enough for someone to choose to steal it!

    Painting wooden toys

Mine are from a local Italian family hobby store, so not sure they're a big brand. I need two coats, and it's quite thick stuff, so not transparent.

hot melt glue guns - bulk offer

For two pieces like that, use double sided tape. I use my glue gun for all sorts of things. Turning is one, making templates, holding small pieces to larger pieces for bandsawing, attaching a large twisted or warped board to chipboard to use safely on table saw, or to saw a very thin piece I...

    Painting wooden toys

I used acrylic paints found in hobby/model stores and then a final coat of spray lacquer.

    Router Table Box/Finger joint jig

I made one where you cut a slot on RT, then move that over a finger, and then move along. Worked ok but was a bit hit and miss at times. I now use a WoodRat for those joints, and it works perfectly, you don't even need to mark / measure. However it may be a bit pricey unless you're doing...

hot melt glue guns - bulk offer

I had a quite expensive Dremel glue gun, and it dripped non-stop, had slow flow rate, and eventually the trigger broke. I bought a much cheaper Bosch PKP18 as I read many good things about it, and it's astonishing the difference. Hardly any drip at all, and very nice to use. Some tools you...
