    Picture framing tactics

Thanks for the replies. I have a corner clamp, but this frame is only 6 by 9". I had thought the pins were shaped to draw the parts together when gluing, and my parts were fairly square, no fancy mouldings. Next time i think i'll focus a bit more on the clamping whilst gluing, and deal with...

    Which Router?

Plunge base is fine, just don't be too aggressive. It also depends on other needs,eg I have three routers set up for different frequent jobs so I don't have to change all the time and can retain settings over a project. So you may find having it set up permanently to do round overs is...

    Picture framing tactics

Thanks. I thought these things were designed so they drew the pieces together to tighten the joint, but i will just use the band clamp and put these in at the end. Cheers.

    general question about cabinet materials

Also here: http://www.mywoodworkmatters.com/buildi ... ress-free/ is a guide to my preferred method which removes the glue up step - but also relies on pocket holes. You could screw in from sides as well if you don't have pocket jig, however you'd see them in the end product. I found dealing...

    Xcalibur sliding table dimensions?

This page: http://www.woodfordtooling.com/accessor ... 10wse.html says the floor space is 1.7 x 1.2m You'll also have overhang. I agree the router fence / slots / table looks really nice, however the one thing that has stopped me from ordering it (I've just ordered the saw with sliding table...

    general question about cabinet materials

A cabinet can be made with only sheet goods and no frame at all. similar to kitchen cabinets, you can simple put the sides / bottom in a u shape, braces at the back top and bottom holding in the back panel set into grooves, and then nailer strips at top to hold the actual top which you add on...

    Xcalibur sliding table dimensions?

Are you able to adjust the bit depth from the top?

    Forstner bit recommendations

I use a single cut fine file to sharpen, it's pretty easy. I bought a set of cheap ones in every size, and then spent more money on the sizes I use most, eg 35mm for kitchens. I like the FAMAG brand.

    Steve Maskrey's Jointer blade jig

I tried to make it using a fairly good table saw, and found it rather tricky. Even when being very careful, I found that the slot depth + cutting + glue up meant that the finished product was never completely flat, and with the blades in rocked slightly on a flat surface. I tried honing by...

    Which Router?

I have the makita as well, works very nice, use the plunge for small jobs, and the fixed for edge work. A laminate trimmer is just a small router. One of the attachments came with mine CX3, was a bearing guide for edge work and laminate trimming, however you don't need that if you have bearing...

    Xcalibur sliding table dimensions?

I am looking to get the 12" version as soon as my workshop build is ready to house it. I was told last year that the sliding tables were discontinued. Do you know what the model number of the sliding table is so that I can talk to Roy about it? Please also a review would be great, with pics...

Kitchen Built in Appliances and Cupboard Depth

Thanks, good to know firstly that the cut-out is in the oven. I quote the Ikea ones because they are the only ones I have found that are more than 60cm. All the trade suppliers and box stores sell 60 only (or 90). I asked a joiner/kitchen fitter and he said he'd never heard of any size other...

Kitchen Built in Appliances and Cupboard Depth

I am planning a kitchen and had the depths of the cupboards at 60cm. The normal depth of ovens / dishwashers seems to be 55cm. That gives me 5cm behind. However the counter tops all seem to be 60cm, and the few places I have been only do 60cm. (apart from Ikea). With 60cm top, you would...

    Rutlands heavy mobile base BOGOF

You must have a tiny table saw  When I got my Scheppach TS I enquired about the base in the Scheppach catalogue. It was £129. I saw one in the flesh and it was almost exactly the same, so it was no contest in the end.

Centepide sawhorse - looks pretty cool

I wonder what happens when you try to put a full sheet of 19mm ply on there. They're pretty heavy and need to be leaned up against a table before lifting from the other side. The contraption would probably slide along the ground or tip over. However it's worth a look in my view as a dedicated...

    Rutlands heavy mobile base BOGOF

I've got 3 when they were £29 apiece. They are perfectly adequate for my TS / Planer / Router table, and I never had any problems with bolts coming loose. One could of course use some locktight to make sure.
