    Belt & Disc Sanders - (Bought a Draper - Dust a problem)

I have the clarke, and found the belt gets seldom used as the joins in the material cause it to bump, like when driving over a bridge. How did you work around the flimsy table? just don't press down too hard? or some sort of shop built table?

    Maple Wood Species

The Canadian one is €1,700 m^3 and the european is €950, so there ought to be a heck of a difference between them.

    Maple Wood Species

I am making some drawers and would like to use maple. I am used to hearing about soft and hard maple, however I seem to be able to get European, Canadian, or steamed... Any ideas on the differences?

    Planer blades straight?

Window trick very good... I was holding these against a straight edge and could never be sure i had them lined up properly. Copious amount of light in the middle, possibly 1.5mm. Back to get them reground! Spare pair coming in the post too. Thanks all!

Year 10 slowly getting the hang of it.

It sounds like you are getting stock in years in advance, is that right. How do you store and season it? I got some cherry and apple logs, which split within a week. I tried to skin the next batch and they split in a day or so. You seem to have used whole logs in good condition for some...

    Planer blades straight?

I'm talking about woodford tooling. I only heard good things about them (it's where we get our xcalibur table saws). However if anyone has experience of their planer blades I'd be happy to hear. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

Sharpening worktop cutting router bits. Do you bother?

When I got my woodrat, I got some HSS bits from them, the idea being they are easier to keep sharp. With them Martin included a credit card diamond sharpener. I would doubt very much that it will make any real difference to the diameter of the bit until you've perhaps sharpened 50 times. So I...

    Farewell old friend

    Planer blades straight?

Blades are £60 odd when I looked at NMA, however I now see that woodford do them for ~£11, so it's almost not worth getting them sharpened!

    Planer blades straight?

In a few weeks I move out from the 32sqm curved wall basement to my new 50sqm workshop, so I'll leave them for now :-) Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

    Planer blades straight?

Good idea. I will try that later. the one window in my shop is small, high, and extremely dirty so I get no light at all through it right now ;-)

    Planer blades straight?

They both look ok, however I don't really have a straight edge that will work to those tolerances.

    Planer blades straight?

I took my blades to get them sharpened, and it cost €4 so not sure what he did with them. In any case, previously they had a little dip in the middle, when you do the "how far can you move a piece of wood with the blade" test, I was getting 5mm on each side, and 0mm in the middle. They have...

Can I bump this post to see if anyone has recommendations for saw blades? Tuff saws gets a load of thumbs up for bandsaws, who's the equivalent person in the table saw universe? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

    sedgwick ta315 table saw blade

But not sure about difference between this http://www.wealdentool.com/acatalog/Onl ... e_292.html and the fine finishing blade... they are both "suitable for laminates", however which is best?

    sedgwick ta315 table saw blade

Hi, I did a search on the forum, and it was hard to find the trees for the wood - pun intended. As far as I know, ripping vs crosscutting need different blades, and sheet goods yet another. I am after 3 blades for the above tasks, 250mm 30mm bore. my sheet goods will be chipboard with...

    SDS for Drilling Meta

Heh. Lots of replies at least. They only had Makita nemesis or Irwin, so I got the Makita (my post was aimed at longer term purchases) These were advertised as overcoming the challenges of rebar in concrete. I got the hr2611ft which seemed more like a drill than the 2811I wanted but the latter...

    SDS for Drilling Meta

Can anyone recommend some decent STS bits for getting through rebar in a concrete wall? I am guessing they would be used with hammer mode turned off? Thanks Dave

    Worksharp 3000 Price?

because of the direction of travel of the disc, flattening without making a mess of your chisel takes a little practise. However the surface of the wheel should not wobble, so send it back for another. BTW: when you sharpen a chisel you want both meeting faces to be treated the same. So you...

    Worksharp 3000 Price?

I got my WS300 at half price on Rutlands, with free knife kit, it's on sale quite a bit there. The spindle is not 100%, however the disc is not wobbling, so i get a very good edge. Are you flattening the backs at each grit too?
