    Roubo

I am just about to embark on my own roubo build with vices from the English woodworker and am following your build with great interest. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

    dolomites

The main problem is that i don't speak Italian, but I will take a look! Thanks, Dave

    dolomites

I found a small piece here in Italy, however it's proving very very hard to source exotics, and when i do, proving extremely expensive. Laburnum or "golden rain" has a really nice finish when turned, where do you get yours from?

As someone who lives in the Dolomites, I can say it's very good ;-)

Drum Sander 16/32 24/48 Extractor Requirements Air flow /h

There ought to be a difference between a normal household vac and a shop vac. i found with the reducer from 100 to 35mm that my shop vac still does fine with dust.

Drum Sander 16/32 24/48 Extractor Requirements Air flow /h

They are normally rated at a %, eg 80% of particles up to 1micron. 1 micron is fairly standard. however the % is important.

Drum Sander 16/32 24/48 Extractor Requirements Air flow /h

remember that volume of air, air pressure (sucking power) are different, and there are other measures too... bandsaw and RoS create dust so again a "shop vac" is fine. If you want to also use for P/T then you're into a whole different potential set up. I have a vac + ducting with blast gates...

Drum Sander 16/32 24/48 Extractor Requirements Air flow /h

most vacs will be tricky to vent outside, and in winter you will be pushing all your warm air outside. This is a chip extractor: http://static.axminster.co.uk/media/cat ... 264_xl.jpg It is intended to capture chips (not dust) from machines such as planers, thicknessers and the like. It's not...

Drum Sander 16/32 24/48 Extractor Requirements Air flow /h

The dust from a drum sander will be quite fine. Therefore airflow won't be that important, assuming you don't want to use this for anything else, other than perhaps hand tools. What will be important is you get one with good multi-stage fine filtration. Some have a cartridge that goes inside...

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

So having a dining table saw must make carving the roast a little easier...

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

Steve, is your house currently full of all your machinery? I seem to recall you had a fair number of tools and I doubt you are leaving them in the garden!

Custom Mods to Slow Wet Grinder...

So I had to elongate rather than new holes as the mechanism underneath gets in the way. it was a bit of a pain, and rather fortunate I had a copy of the wiring diagram. I had hoped to leave it so I could move the post between the two positions easily, however getting in there with spanner...

    Workshop progress

It's hard plastic, but flexible yes. Once covered in concrete it becomes less flexible. Just realised that one light switch will be behind door for example, however I can reverse the switch so you turn it on in kitchen before you go into utility room, so not too bad. But you have to check...

    Workshop progress

Actually it's about 5k and that's euros, but still, it's quite a different experience to the uk. When i compare to some cheaper homes i've seen built in uk it's a different level, only a shame it's so dear - I had to drop quite a few plans and ideas. We do have to deal with major temperature...

    Workshop progress

We have to build an environmentally friendly house and this includes 65cm floors, vacuum systems in the walls, integrated floor heating, an air exchange system, and all the conduits are embedded in thirty cm insulated concrete. These are just empty pipes that will have the wires put through...

    A Couple of Sketchup questions?

Well, as I said, the model is not perfect. I did this for my own benefit, and would rather spend more time working in the house than drawing it ;-) However not quite sure what you mean by exposed reverse faces. I am more than happy to change my process, however I gave a very specific good...

    A Couple of Sketchup questions?

BTW: you asked for an example file, here is one in a zip file which contains lots of items within one sketchup drawing. I did many of them before I knew how to use components / groups properly, however it will give you a good idea for what can be done. http://www.mywoodworkmatters.com/wp-con...

    A Couple of Sketchup questions?

Why on earth would you do that? I have a piece of 2x4 that is 18" long. I want another piece 24" long, so I click control and move the piece which creates a copy. If it is a component, when I know resize the new piece it resizes the old piece as well. If I am creating a table leg, and I want...

    A DUST EXTRACTOR

Sounds like you can't do much more than air mask plus extraction plus air filter... The reason we suggested a y connection and blast gates is that the faff off moving it between machines, especially when you have different adaptors etc. I did it after a few years and never looked back! Sent...
