    Lubricating Table Saw Inner Parts

Play nicely everyone ;-) You can see from the pictures, I've got the top off my table, which means the main top, the sliding table, the right wing, and the extension wing are all off. (I think the total width of top is about 1.8m of mostly cast iron). So there's no risk of contamination...

    Lubricating Table Saw Inner Parts

Thanks, spray on one also? I can of course get something else, I don't mind, there may be little difference between different products, however I defo learned not to use silicon spray on some things, and not to use wd40 on others.... If there's an ideal option not in my stock, happy to hear...

    Lubricating Table Saw Inner Parts

I have a Harvey cabinet saw, and finally got around to cleaning the innards. It's a bit like this without the router table: Despite having excellent dust collection, I pulled out an entire wheely bin of dust and debris, and am ready to clean and maintain the moving parts. They always come...

    Imperial vs Metric

I too enjoyed that footnote each time I read whichever discworld book it was. I was not joking though. what is 1/3 of 3/4? 1/4? what is half of 3/4? 3/8. Again, the other responses show that the point was missed, and in my opinion, it's a big reason imperial feels easy for woodworking. It...

    Imperial vs Metric

The thing that's nice about Imperial for me, which is a point I see very few, if anyone, pick up on, has nothing to do with the scale whatsoever, but the fact that the divisions are done in fractions. Yes, 12" is nice, can be divided by 2/3/4/6 and 10cm by only 2/5 (to leave whole numbers)...

Orbital sanders that discs stick to!

I must admit I've not had one that "does" throw them off. Also pads are pretty standard sizes, (125mm, 150mm), so the make shouldn't matter. It's just a question of the holes, and you can normally get enough to line up with any brand, of make new holes. Also the Abranet ones, are a mesh, so...

    Dust extraction, "standard" sizes

+1 for the 3d printer, I have one and used it for a lot of adaptors over the years. Find a local makers club, and ask them to print you one - parametric designs make this a breeze now. The festool hose for the TS55 fits a standard "vacuum", and then you can use adaptors for other tools.

Using Melamine Chipboard as a Whiteboard

I actually remembered that my wrist support for my keyboard is an old piece that i used to writes notes on or do quick calculation when at my desk. On the bottom, it has some writing that has been there for 6 months. Didn't come off with fluid. However a little bit of jif/cif and it came...

Advise on Router for Router Table

I also use the largest Triton. If it's going to be there for ever, may as well get the best one in that line, and have all the power you need. Power switch is awkward without NVR fix, however I got used to it now. The only thing I find is that it doesn't raise smoothly, it binds a wee bit on...

Using Melamine Chipboard as a Whiteboard

I have a large piece (2m x 2m) of Egger faced chipboard, white with a slight texture. I notice that most whiteboards are really smooth and shiny. Anyone got any experience using left over chipboard for a whiteboard?

Blum Movento with Tip-on that isn't built into the runner?

If it's doors, you can use spacers, and the hinge side can simply be adjusted. I have done this with a servo opening for bin/green waste under sink, however it does take space and the servo is about £80. It was worth it for an undersink bin where I wanted hands free access, and also wanted no...

Blum Movento with Tip-on that isn't built into the runner?

Question for anyone who is a Blum expert I think. I have some drawers that use movento with blumotion. So they are soft close I am replacing the fronts, and don't want to put handles on, and was wondering if the "tip-on" inserts that you put into the cabinet frame would work? I've not seen any...

Jet Chip Extractor and Household Power Supply - Tripping

I will check what I have regarding the trip switches. For the start switch and isolation, I have this plugged into a remote controlled switch, and therefore the start switch is always on. I will try a few times trying to switch off at the machine, to further isolate, however I really want to...

Jet Chip Extractor and Household Power Supply - Tripping

So, back to business. I opened up the starter unit, and it was not really dusty at all. Gave it a good clean, but problem persists. (see attachment) Did you mean to open the motor housing, or something else? I can of course ask for a less sensitive fuse, however as this problem is "new"...

Jet Chip Extractor and Household Power Supply - Tripping

Yes, on start up, my tablesaw often blows the main house fuse if the dishwasher or oven or cooker is on.... Not helped by having only 6kw. I don't know how the "standard normal" people here cope, with just 3kw. When I told my electrician I wanted 6, he raised his eyebrows and asked if I was...

Jet Chip Extractor and Household Power Supply - Tripping

Sorry, your reply was superseded by a later one, hadn't seen it. What doesn't quite match up with your description is that it's started happening recently (6 months) and I have had it in the same place for 5 years... I wonder if plugging through a surge protector would help?

Interesting. With a remote of course, I can't "dwell"... however it's definitely not something that happened in the first couple of years.
