    Sink installation - stretchers

I positioned the sink roughly in the middle, there's 4.5cm to front and 4.8 to back. There are no instructions to speak of, and certainly no warning that one should stay xx from front. You simply cannot buy 62 tops here. I tried from the start to get 62-65, and every place I went to gave me...

    Sink installation - stretchers

Yes, I have no problem at all with cutting part of the stretch out. What I am not thrilled about is having to cut out so much that only the front edge banding strip is left!

    Sink installation - stretchers

So from the picture you can see longer screws are out as the legs will come out of the nylon part. The clips will protrude a good cm so not cutting out probably won't work. Another problem with pre installation is that this top mates with another one and I don't really fancy trying to maneuver...

    Sink installation - stretchers

I'll have to check. Just seems odd that the standard installation pack does not allow for this where clearly there will be some. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

    Renewing clamps

well, if for example I write all my messages on the job, or whilst on a train, or whilst waiting in the queue at the supermarket, I won't have lost any time ;-) Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

    Sink installation - stretchers

To add detail. The work top is 60cm and the sink is a franke. Nex 651. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

    Sink installation - stretchers

Right, that's what I thought however as per above maths, I noticed a typo btw, this leaves 1.5 cm. When I cut out 1cm for clip the front stretcher will have 0.5 cm... doesn't seem much to me! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

    Sink installation - stretchers

Trying to install a sink and the under mount clips only reach the work top, not the stretchers. With 4.5cm to front and 3cm for door and overhang this means I have to remove the front stretcher. Does this sound right? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

    Renewing clamps

I would love to get some new claps, but I would probably go for bessey and they're not cheap. I also don't like wasting time. The one thing you can't get more of. However fifteen minutes would be ok. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

    Renewing clamps

Odd, I got Lux, Axminster, Bessey & Festool and they all have serrations.... the only one that doesn't is some brandless cheap rubbish I got at a big box store when on sale. (It still works mind). I'll have a go either way - thanks!

    Renewing clamps

Sounds like some effort, drilling through that steel, however I might give it a go if the roughing up version fails. Thing is I have one clamp with no serrations at all, which works great, so perhaps it's the inside of the sliding part that's knackered.

    Renewing clamps

I don't want to waste a couple of hours doing something pointless. If someone else said "I tried this and doesn't work" that would be helpful ;-)

    Renewing clamps

I have some second hand f clamps that just slide and never engage. Is it possible to renew them by filing new grooves? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

    Xcalibur/Harvey set up

Sounds good. I did think of tapping into left wing however had 3 problems with it: 1. tapping those holes 2. the increased distance 3. extra legs required I can of course still do this later I would suggest you make a table sled for smaller pieces, much more accurate and easier / safer too...

    Xcalibur/Harvey set up

Interesting. The picture i posted was an example of something made by Steve Ramsey last week, and i would feel far more comfortable about that (with table sled) than a dado for shelf housing where i pass a large piece over an unseen blade. Shelving i can do quickly and easily with router...

    Xcalibur/Harvey set up

Woodford who sell the Harvey formerly known as Xcalibur also sell the dado stack to go with it. http://www.woodfordtooling.com/catalog/ ... tegory/68/ I am really tempted by it, as when I watch videos on YT there are sets of tasks that take seconds, which take me a long time with a router or...

    Xcalibur/Harvey set up

I checked out the CE mark, as per a request, and there is one there. You'll note that there is no Xcaliber badging anywhere, and as it was always rebadged from a clone, perhaps we should not be calling it that anymore. It is made by Harvey, which is a site I have visited many times when...

    Xcalibur/Harvey set up

Actually although the starter switch is brought forward under the ST, it does not move with it. This means that when cutting a large piece, you have to reach fairly far under, so not ideal. However I can imagine if it moved that cable management could become an issue. The cab opens on left I...

    Xcalibur/Harvey set up

One thing that I don't quite get is the telescopic sliding table fence. It extends about 30cm, this certainly could have been more, my Scheppach extended by 60cm odd... However the main thing is the tape system. You can adjust the tape wherever, it's clearly designed to be moved about as it's...
