Question about Triton in Router Table

My cheapo router table died, so I need to replace, and fairly quickly. I have looked at Jessem Excel, however requires specific routers, that seem to be hard to come by, and expensive. I looked at the Rout-r-lift prestige for plunge routers, and then also at a standard table insert with a...

US Power Tool Converters? 110 to 230v?

Thanks, they look a bit close for comfort, running a 1.4kw Router, possibly a bigger one. Looked for Bosch 1617 and 1618 and Dewalt 610/618/616 and couldn't find them in UK, looking for something potentially to fit in a Jessem router lift. My Router table just died :(

US Power Tool Converters? 110 to 230v?

I was looking at a few tools (particularly fixed base routers), that seem only available in the US. I found lots of comments on the forum from people who seemed to own Portercable for example. However how do you work with the voltage? a transformer seems large, heavy and expensive... £300...

When did the world go mad for Festool?

I've got a Peugeot. Agree completely. There is a lot of "buy the best tool you can afford" type advice, then everyone moans about why people like Festool. I have the domino, the tracksaw, and a router. The domino was definitely a luxury item given it's price, but it get's a surprising level...

    Workbench - some assembly required.

I have the exact same wagon vice installed on right hand side and it's 4cm to the dog hole strip. If you wanted for example to work on chamfering some ten cm panel frames, you need to be closer to the edge. Would you like some pictures of my install?

Axminster ts250 minimum height cut at 45deg?

are you sure you've been standing at the right end of your saw ;-) A 2m long spline? sounds interesting.

Axminster ts250 minimum height cut at 45deg?

btw: for through cuts you'd want to do the same thing but with the fence on the other side, so your workpiece isn't trapped under blade. The above one is ok as it's not a through cut. btw: you'd definitely want a riving knife, good guarding and something perhaps to hold the piece against the...

Axminster ts250 minimum height cut at 45deg?

You'd make some jig like this: The left side is so you can clamp it to your fence, as if you're working with long pieces hard to hold with just feed pressure. then you cut it. If all your pieces are same size, you can work out how to make this cut exactly right If you have different...

Axminster ts250 minimum height cut at 45deg?

BTW: how did you adjust the blade to the side? normally the arbor can't be adjusted, unless you shimmed with a washer or something?

Axminster ts250 minimum height cut at 45deg?

so do you want the piece looking like it does in the picture? with a 45deg cut, and then what looks like a spine slot at 90deg to that?

Axminster ts250 minimum height cut at 45deg?

your saw tilts to the right then?

Axminster ts250 minimum height cut at 45deg?

If you did a zero clearance cut, by putting fence further away, and cutting on the other side, then tack a strip to that at the distance required, then clamp the "immovable sled" to the real fence... you'd want the sled / support piece to be longer than cut so it goes from front to back of saw...

    Grinder

Yes, I have the SVD-185, I thought it didn't work as well on grinder, or fit on to the standard mounting or something. The other reason I mention that multiple systems may be in order, is that the OP talked about chisels, which as you said above, are more often not done on a grinder.

    Grinder

Just said I didn't know any, sure there are lots ;-) I found I kept bluing the edges of my tools when I used a grinder, and the tormek jigs really helped me, as a beginner, to get repeatable sharpening edges. However I remember Alwin? at Axminster just using a grinder, and have seen it many...

Axminster ts250 minimum height cut at 45deg?

It seems that the point around which your saw rotates is not correct. the blade should be in same place at 45 deg for any height. If you put max height at 45, then lower blade, you should see the blade moving straight "down" at 45, ie in line with itself. If it's also moving vertically, like...

    Grinder

Just my pennies worth... The grinders are good for shaping, however I find them too fast (therefore hot) and too aggressive for sharpening. So my process is: Grinder for shaping all tools Slow wet wheel (like tormek, but cheaper) for sharpening turning tools waterstones / scary sharp /...

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

I was worried you'd missed a day and a bunch of stones and sand were going to turn up today when you weren't expecting them! Glad that's not the case.

    Feeling very guilty :(

Are you referring to my post? All my locals in this rural / agricultural nature park call them swallows in German. Who knows, maybe there's not another word for House Martins in German...

    Air Filtration Finally Mounted

Had this thing on a bench for months, finally got it installed in the ceiling and turned around so it blows the clean air towards my bench and where I stand at the table saw. It was quite an operation getting it up there myself! I still feel slightly nervous when working at the bench it's above!
