Best way to finish pine furniture

HI SMD I use pine a fair bit and I usually go for a combination of a woodstain of some description to give it the base colour I want, and then a finishing wax to complete. Okay, it's not going to withstand the rugrats 'biro-ing' all over it, but it depends on the application. In your case it...

Looking out for it already! I could do with a replacement for my cheapo Clarke 10" that wont break the bank (or my eardrums as is the case ATM!!!). I'm assuming is has an induction motor that is reasonably quiet  or is this a silly question? Ta muchly Gary

Gawsh, it's amazing what a response a post containing the words 'free' will achieve!!! :D Seriosly though, thanks guys. Adam. Don't want to go to too much trouble, as the house doesn't belong to us. (private rental, see  ). Also we dont have floorboards, as the houses are only...

Looking for good floor pillar drill

Nope, not any more NN! Thanks for the preview. More dissappointment on the tests, then. I think I'll just stick to buying advice from you guys here at UKW and buy the mag for general reading. It's about time they sorted this out, don't you think? Ta muchly Gary

Yeah, I see Adam. Definite re-evaluation needed. Can you get these in higher amps though? If not, whats the best way to go? I can't really have a dedicated supply from the fuse box as it's on the other side of the house. Anyway it's old and would need replacing before I could run anything else...

    Wooden Planes

Man, that is a tragedy. For a proud man, as he obviously was to make his own furniture, to have his life's work dismissed as rubbish and junk is not only sad, but a crime against the cabinetmakers/furniture makers/craftsmans profession. And an insult to the man personally, IMHO. Sorry if thats...

Adam. I do plan to RCD the whole thing using one of these http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?ts=66462&id=14770 from inside the house, with armoured cable from the house to W/S. Then I was given 3 of these http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?ts=66562&id=13149 by one of the...

Looking for good floor pillar drill

<chuckle> Yes, and one for about £300-£350, probably, as it says "We test new bandsaws for SIP (which I'm looking out for - £289 if it's the 14" version), Charnwood, Record Power and Meber". So likely to be just the four, then. As you say, the PC mags will pick a price band, say upto 700 quid...
