    Oh dear Axminster! :(

Tip for removing sticky labels? Where safe to the product try a little acetone. Ask the missus for her nail polish remover, but make sure you explain why first. She may get a little disconcerted otherwise :P Gary

    VIRUS WARNING

Thanks Dom. Will watch out for it in my Hotmail. Wish these guys would do something productive for a change - they are obviously capable  Gary

    Best cordless drill for £150?

Ooooooo....let's see now. If I can get some stuff onto ebay.... Although masonry work should be minimal - in the garden mainly. The walls in my house are like paper. A bradawl usually suffices for a rawlplug hole  Thanks scooby, I'll bear it in mind in the New Year Gary

    Wardrobe and Chest of drawers

Lovely job CYC! I'm a big fan of pine myself, and you have done it justice here. Great for a girl's room - it has an 'Alice In Wonderland' feel to it. How did you make the large chamfers on the drawer fronts? Router bit or judicious hand plane work? It looks great. 8) (Danish oil's a very good...

    Best cordless drill for £150?

Thanks for all the help guys. As for the tasks, scooby, it will be used for general workshop use ie. holes, pilot holes, driving screws etc. but also home DIY so may need the power for concrete, steel and the like. I mainly want something dependable and reliable with good durability/battery...

    Machine Mart Bargain..

HI all, went for one of my Crissy Pressies off TLOML last Saturday. Decided on my first biscuit jointer so picked up the 'recommended' Clark jobbie for £50. Not tried it yet so I can't comment on the tool itself, but when purchasing said item the conversation went thus: Machine Mart Salesman...

    Hogswatch ruined!

Yeah, somewhat dissappointed here too. Love TP and have done for years, but didn't hit the mark really. Death - a bit too puppety, needs more ethereal quality. Good voice though Albert - Okay for the comedy but can't get DelBoy outta my head! Susan - Good choice. Never seen her before. Maybe...

    Best cordless drill for £150?

Hi all. (Hope this hasn't been asked before. ) My cheapo B&D cordless seems to be running off centre. I think I may have overloaded it and now it 'wobbles' a bit under load. Anyway, TLOML has said she'll buy me a new one in January (bless her!!) and £150 (possibly slightly flexible on...

    Nintendo Wii

Another PC games fan here, I'm afraid  Could never get to grips with the PS/XBOX controllers meself - prefer the keyboard/mouse set up (except on FIFA - impossible without a controller!! ). Must say that's why the Wii controllers do look kinda interesting to me too. For anyone...

    Suitable wood for a memorial

Great, thanks for that Jim. Gives me another option if I can get past the authorities. I did wonder about the section underground and how long it might last. How did you sheath the base in fibreglass? Did you dip it in a liquid form or use sheet material formed to fit the base? Thanks Gary

Finished-Couple of things from this weekend. *BIG Pictures*

Lovely job Lee! 8) I'm after making a jewellery box myself for TPTB (only about 4 years late so far!! :D ). Some nice ideas there.... The Midland Hotel? It ain't shut down has it? Been there for years that place. Or is it just a refit? Gary

    Hand made - literally

Nice one Houts! Simple (design, not build! :) ) and very effective. 8) How about a close-up on them thar' dovetails! (only cos I'm jealous and can't hand-cut dovetails for toffee!!) Gary

    Suitable wood for a memorial

Thanks for all your suggestions folks, I had never considered elm, iroko and the like. I'll certainly bear them in mind. I figured I may have issues with local authorities, but on the plus side, he lived and is buried in a small village in Shropshire so I'm hoping they might be a little more...

    Suitable wood for a memorial

Hi folks. Not to sound too morbid, but my father died earlier this year and I'm considering making his grave memorial/'headstone' for next year. I'm mainly after information on the most suitable species of wood for construction other than the obvious oak. Don't know if this is the standard for...

    Design for a TV Stand

Lovely design Slim. Nice contrast too. 8) One idea - form the elongated 'S' shape i.e. steam bend perhaps. Kinda more messy and time consuming though. Or as Dave says, use stainless steel and work it 'through' the wood rather than individual columns. Just a coupla thunks.. Gary

    Wellies!

ROFL you guys.    Taking it right down to the gutter, eh?...... .....a mere sidestep for me, mind you! Gary, (feeling a little sheepish!! ) Don't believe I just said that
