    Grinder with teeth

I'm not advising anyone else to do this but when I get this type of minor injury or cut at work, I dip the injured finger in a tub of very high flash point thinners. It absoloutely stings like mad for about two seconds but it dry's out the cut and hardens it like nothing else. I've been doing it...

An interesting tool site in tiawan

The hand planes look a little suspect. The block plane is a certain lie nielsen copy. Never seen them before as well. jon.

    There's some nutters about

I dont know if he's still on but a while ago, someone was selling those aluminium tablesaw tapering jigs you get from Axminster for £13 and getting £16- £20 for them on ebay. Everytime he sold one, there was another one straight on. I felt like opening the front door and shouting as loud as I...

    "Routing" cast iron.

I've routed aluminium, brass and copper on numerous occasions and if you take very small cuts it's not too bad but when I tried cast iron it's a no-go i'm afraid. The cutter just wont stay firm enough and it tends to bounce off the iron. The best you will achieve is a broken cutter. cheers, jon.

Most disappointing tool I ever bought

Tony, I wasn't comparing Mitutoyo to Wixey in any way, shape or form, just meerly stating that you basically get what you pay for i'm afraid. E.G, Mitutoyo instruments are expensive which is why they are guaranteed to work well, Wixey are cheaper and not put together with the same quality...

    Best Tool I Ever Bought

Out of my collection of routers which are a dewalt DW618 combo kit, Bosch gof2000ce, a Porter cable 2+1/4hp one and a Dewalt 615, the most used is a little red power devil quarter inch jobby that cost me the pricely sum of 9.99. jonathan.

Most disappointing tool I ever bought

The thing to remember is that these devices are based on the same principle as a digital vernier gauge which can be a very accurate instrument if a good one is used, Mitutoyo make exellent electronic measuring equipment and they DO work alway's but a poor quality one such as something at buy it...

Source of router 'type' motor for project?

I think the motor you are looking for are the one's that use the switchable fixed base and plunge base. If this is the case, then you can now get a Bosch model which has been widely available now in the UK for quite a while, can't think of the model no. though, I think it's a something 1400...

Sliding Table for Wadkin AGS P WANTED

I'd also like to add that with the table there is a mitre gauge to go with it that is virtually identical to the much loved Osborne EB3. Probably worth £60 on it's own! jon.

Sliding Table for Wadkin AGS P WANTED

Hello Richard, The table is just sat in the box taking up space so i'd let it go for £60. Considering that these are around £350 to buy, I'd say it's a give away at the price. cheers, jonathan.

    Tommy Walsh's Workshop

I,m sure he is a warm and freindly chap, but that doesn't disguise the fact that when on T.V., he has this smug attitude towards others who try to offer him any advice or a different way of doing something. He is basically a big head and to support this I refer to my last comments about the...

    Tommy Walsh's Workshop

I do not consider Tommy Walsh to be a cowboy or a bodger in any way, to the contrary, some of his work i've seen does look very tidy and rarely does he cut any corners. My only issue with him is the way he has to alway's try and show himself as the more knowledgeable one towards other tradesmen...

    Tommy Walsh's Workshop

Tommy Walsh has an ego to match his bulk! His programs are more interesting to watch than the dreaded fishing ones but i can't stand the way he tries to belittle other tradesmen who have far more expertise and experience than he will ever have. The general opinion of Tommy on this subject seems...

    Thicknesser planer rippling trouble

If all three knives aren't set exactly the same, the cutter which sticks out the most will be the only one doing any cutting and will certainly cause rippling, you must have all the knives set the same for an efficient and smooth cutting action. jon.

    Thicknesser planer rippling trouble

Most setting gauges are virtually all the same, just different in the diameter of cutter block and how much they make the knives protrude. If you contact axminster and ask them if they can supply a replacement one for their 10 inch P/T, i'm almost certain it will work on yours as well. cheers...

Jet Thicknesser - Timber Sticking on Exit

Had any luck yet? If the timber IS catching on the housing, I can't see how waxing the tables will achive anything however, if it's not and just sticking on the table, then a little wax will certainly sort it out for you. jon.
