    Festool Vac Sys

It was only a matter of time before Festool added their own twist to the already available range of vacum tables. An exellent tool, but the price will yet again be astronomical. jonathan.

    Overheating motor

The only time i've had an induction motor on a machine get any way near as hot as you describe is when I had a 60Hz motor on my Unisaw. As soon as I fitted it with a new 50Hz one, it never gets past luke warm, even if I run it on/off all day. It certainly doesn't sound right and after checking...

Bandsaw vibration - how much is normal?

I use a minimax SC3 at work and while you would say the machine runs smoothly, if you look really close, there is a noticable vibration. Not enough to cause any problems while cutting though. I'm almost certain it's down to the weld in the blade, not that there's a problem with it, just that as...

T/S Motor brake stopped working....help needed

Hello Doug, i'm not familiar with the scheppach motors but there is two types of possible brake designs, one is mechanically activated as the RPM's slow down and the other is an electronically activated brake which can be part of the starter switch, (these are usually on industrial three phase...

SIP 12" Table Saw (with Dado Cutter)

I have a Unisaw with a 50hz braked motor fitted and regularly use the dado. For the blade to cause the nut to unwind, the brake would have to virtually stop it dead in one second and even then I find it hard to believe it would have the force to both spin round whilst sliding off a two ind lond...

I have the full iron top table model from Woodford and it's twice the machine for half the money! What more can I say. jonathan.

    Looking for router cutter set.

Hello, Can anyone point me to a supplier of a matched set of profile scribe router cutters that will do stock thickness of around 40mm instead of the common 18-22mm sets? cheers, jonathan.

Cutting circles on the table saw...!

I think if the work piece was clamped down before each cut, it would make the process a lot safer. The dangerous part is when you rotate the piece against the blade, if you let go for a fraction of a second, the piece could easily be thrown towards you. A good demonstration though. jonathan.

    SIP bobbin sander

I'm pretty certain it's the same machine as the Machine mart Clark sander, and they sell the replacement sleeves in a pack of three I think. jon.

    electric motor

It seems I may have had a little luck for a change. I sent the armature off to Bob who kindly tested it for me and fingers crossed, he seems to think it's OK and a new set of brushes and armature bearing could be all it needs. Good to have helpful members involved in the forum. jonathan.

    electric motor

A heavy build up of carbon dust is certainly on the menu! It's caked in it around the problem area, well it was before I wiped most of it away. At work, we have several Dewalt saws and one in particular is used about every 5 mins throughout the whole day and has been doing so now for the best...

    electric motor

The plastic boxes that hold the brushes aren't melted anywhere but on the yellow plastic of the motor casing near the brushes, there has been a sign of some melting and blackening. When I press the start trigger only for a couple of seconds, there is noticable heat build up in the brushes and...

    electric motor

It's funny you should say this because it's been niggling at the back of my mind obout the brushes. The brush holders have been scorched by the exessive sparking and the brushes themselves are certainly softer than any i've seen before. I checked to see if they slid freely in their holders and...

    electric motor

Hello, Roy took me through the steps of testing the armature for what it was worth. He suspected that the meter I have was unable to read sensitively enough for the process so we diddn't really find anything out. As I have told Roy though, the only real option I have is to take it to my nearest...
