    Thicknesser advice

Hi, I'm considering upgrading my dewalt DW733 for the Jet JPM13 SCX thicknesser. Does anyone have this machine? how does it perform? is it worth the money? I already have a seperate jointer so I'm not bothered about a planer/thicknesser. Any comments appreciated. cheers, jon.

How scary are some tv shows...

I would have also thought that by wearing gloves, any slightest contact with the blade could even drag your hand further in!! cheers, jon.

How scary are some tv shows...

Hello, the quality and sharpness of blades and moulder tooling also dramatically reduces the risk of any kickback or grabbing of the workpiece. Any person who regularly uses spindles, knows the satisfying feeling of timber gliding through the cutterhead when using a new set of knives as opposed...

New woodwork program on the telly

In the program wood works I too can say that the standard of his work can be a little hap hazard but if we are talking about that guy called Anton Fitzpatrick, he also used to present a show called dreamboats where he guided mere mortals through the step by step process of building small boats...

Help choosing a new saw blade please

When I talk about the high quality of the Dewalt saw blades, I'm talking specifically about the series 40 and more to the point the series 60. The large panel saws we use at work have blade capacities of 300-400mm and we have used the series 60 for years under the ELU branding and rate them as...

Help choosing a new saw blade please

I have one of those seriously thin kerf blades from CMT, (1.7mm) I think, it has 80 teeth and straight from the box I found it to be rubbish. The blade seems to be far too thin which means it won't hold it's rigidity when crosscutting something like oak or beech. The first table saw I had was a...

FOR SALE - DW7461, cast iron precision sliding table

Dewalt DW7461, cast iron precision sliding table. The table is to fit on the Dewalt DW 746 saw bench but anyone with little engineering experience could fit it to any saw with a table which is 27inch from front to back. These tables would set you back about £400 with vat but I will take £150...

Help choosing a new saw blade please

Hi, I have alway's used the Dewalt blades. The series 40 or if you can stretch the extra cost, go for the series 60. To buy from a shop will set you back £40-£60 depending how many teeth you opt for but I have bought 4 off ebay for only £10-£20 each. Keep an eye out on ebay as they are always...

    Dakota Tenoning Jig

Hi, I have the Dakota jig in question and it's very heavy. As Philly say's, it is probably not a good idea to hold it against a mitre gauge as the slightest sideway movement could be dangerous but I see no reason why a new bar that fits your own table slot couldn't be fitted. cheers, jon.

Jab, nearly all CE approved saws won't take a dado. I think you can with Scheppach though and the saws from Woodford, the Xcaliber range. cheers, jon.

    JET SUPERSAW

Adam, The one word which would probably suit the SS best is "precision". If time and care is taken to set the saw up accurately, Then that's the way it performs. The internal castings are machined to a very good standard and when adjustments are made, they return to the origional bang on...
