    Weirdly, hadto repair my own grans Kenwood recently. Again had a large bang, just a capacitor from the ark blowing apart! Got kitof them and resistors off ebay for tenner, some easy soldering and ready for the next 50 years.

    Simon, if you are going to Wickes, the stainless steel stop and angle beads are worth the extra, wont rust and lift your render over time.

    The plastic tube on one is Cintride make, also marked CA??? 310900 K95K, Both extensions also stamped K95K too. They have been knocking around for years, think they came in a job lot. Rather they went to someone who can use, otherwise off to scrap man

    Braze or solder broken cast iron plane sides?

    You can get "cold" arc welding rods specifically for cast iron. Trick is just to do a bit at a time so it doesn't get too hot and distort. Not hard to use if you have used an arc welder before I can assure you

    Cannot recommend StartRescue too highly. £35 a year and during Covid, they rescued us twice, once when slave cylinder popped and covered clutch plate and again when the engine dropped out of our car due to the company who replaced all clutch not actually tightening up the engine mounts...

    Hi PaulArthur, I had some tuition some years ago from Kevin in Earlswood Seems to have hiked his prices somewhat but he is very good and patient. I was also given a lathe and although originally an engineer by trade, this lathework is v different!

    Help please - "tool" gone "all sticky" outside

    I like Stanley multibit screwdrivers and have a couple. On one the rubber grip has done this and whenever you apply any torque it smears the rubber/ silicon residue all over your hands. Like you I dont like throwing things away so still get messy hands when I cant find the good one!
