    Ever thought about Marquet Floors?

Our old Dutch house has a stunningly beautiful marquet floor, with flowers (Tulips of course- the house belonged to a tulip grower) as well as patterns and animals. We had about 2m square repaired last year as the floor had buckled a bit and the marquet was popping out, the quote and then the...

    Glueing and clamping hexagon

Waka There is an article in this month Fine Woodworking on this, the guy make a hexagonal garden table. From memory he clamps across the individual sections with 2 K Body clamps at each end, then another clamp to pull the K Bodies together and hence make the joint. You need strong good clamps...

    Veneering Advice

Philly, welcome to veneering - I veneer a lot, but not with a bag so I just do flat stuff (mind you I need a bag for the backs to my Love Chairs http://croeso.typepad.com/photos/furniture_making_love_cha/index.html so any chance you can DHL it across the water for a week or two ? ) I...

Having done this twice (swapped countries) take everything with you - you can always sell it later if you run out of room or want to upgrade. (I will be doing it again at the end of this summer) Would be my advice

    Extendable sliding table fence?

I've always fancied a sliding table fence that extends by twice it's length, such as here: Anyway the 550$ dollar price tag for the Jessum is way too much. http://www.jessem.com/mast_r_slide.htm Now I know the big Sheppach 4010 table saw has one so I was thinking of just buying that as a...

Play House that the children build themselves ??

We have been told about a system that enables children to build themselves a play house and a design that allows a number of different designs. With slot together joints We have had no luck tracking such a supplier - any one know of one? And now we are thinking of me making such a system. Now...

    Standardisation of Fences

I know about the Kity being the wrong way around - I bought it second hand (hardly used) and it was assembled that way and most importantly the stick on ruler was put on with that configuration. I carfully move the fence over to the other side of the blade if I'm tilting the blade...

    Standardisation of Fences

I'm lucky that I regularly work in the US, so I can bring home goodies. About a year ago I brought with me a set of aluminium extrusions with stops, micro adjusters, T track ,knurled rass nuts, etc etc. I have made myself a drill press table Fitted the band saw fence New fence...

    Auto switch on for extractors

I need to build a few of these as the 70€ price tag is a bit daunting for a Scheppach one of these. I know Maplin used to slock a Master/Slave unit that could be used but discontinued it. Does anyone else know where I can buy a switching relay to handle a 1hp extractor, with ideally an off...

    Helping Kity Breathe More Easily

How very interesting, I sort of did half the same . I fitted a standard 4" flanged spigot from axminster: http://www.axminster.co.uk/recno/20/pro ... -22100.htm below the 419 in my cabinet, and suck from there. One thing I did not do is remove the side of the guard as you did. I kept the...

    Besseeey

I agree have 4 60" ones (1500mm) and they are a delight to use as well as 4 30" ones. KBodies are my only clamps that do true parallel clamping without doing the under over rotation.

Extra large router table top or hold downs?

that's the nice think about these chairs, I don't really need anything repeatable, the angle of the legs see to that. I must admit I'm leaning toward getting the microplanes out again. That reminds me have I sang the praises of my latest birthday gift yet - just the bee's knees. I'd...

Extra large router table top or hold downs?

Alf - you are right, but I wanted ceratin parts of the chairs to be very symmetrically round. The front legs certainly needed to be done that way, the back legs I am now leaning to hand work, especially after all the work getting the but joints to the top rails right - one slip with a router...
