yep, yep makes sense What type of nails would be best, the ones with the smallest head I guess, hmm wonder what they are called in Italy - our local hardware store here has everything out back so you need to ask for everything at the counter, mind you they are getting used to me popping in with...

Workbench finsihes and Planing finished wood....

Once a year my grandfather told me - in the spring was his recommendation, but I've read of many expert woodworkers who do it at very different times of the year. I did mine a few months ago and it takes just a few minutes (10 maybe) It's 5 years old now and after the first year when it seemed...

    Parquet Question

I have just sanded down the kitchen parquet floor in the house in Italy as it was extremely dirty, and was very surprised when not only the central star motif came out wonderfully but a border of flower chains came too - just staggering.  Now I have sanded a little too far in a few...

    Cooker light - stuck!

On my Siemens oven it looks like it's screwed in from inside the oven, but after struggling for 30 minutes I called Siemens they told me to slide the whole oven out of it's cupbaod (built in one) and you can access the bulb from the top! ?

    tape measure with writing facility

Can't quite find it now , seems an overkill when I saw it but you never know. I've seen a chippy record all notes to a mobile phone and then play them back later at the saw bench. But I too have stuck some plastic to the back that pencils can write on (maybe formica)

    Thinking of a Festool C12 - am I mad?

I have one of these and like all Festool stuff it's really top drawer, the balance in the hand is unbelievable and you can work wth it for much much longer (well this skinny guy can anyway) than my old DW or Makita. The accesories are also suberb, but I am a Festool fanatic, I save and save (and...

Right to left metric tape measure

I just put one on upside down in my set up - suprising how quickly I have adapted to using it that way - no problems at all A mate of mine here takes the free cardboard tape measures you get in the DIY stores here, covers them in sellotape (wide enough to put both edges at the back - so no...

    Energy saving device for freezers

As a senior engineer working for a very large oil company with PhD in physics I feel a lesson comming on. We do this with our large motors/compressors when they run in steady state, we actually reduce the power to them by removing some of the sine wave of the AC (three phase or single...
