Wood things to see in Amsterdam?

They don't lean because of the need to bring in furniture, it's the piles starting to move, they keep the lean by preservation order these days. They hoist the furniture as the stairs are too steep and small to it up that way. It's actually a very efficient way of filling a house with furniture...

Interesting pieces of furniture - 7

Like the rest I feel the piece is exceptionally well made but the veneer just shouts too much for European eyes. I''d have toned down the veener for the drawer fronts and see if that helped. I have an Art Deco styled house and even in that it would be a little too much.

    Beginners' veneering problems

I have made a veneer shooting board 2 x 2m long 20mm plywood (circa 20cm wide), the clamp the veneer between, another piece of plywod that is wider (+15cm) below these two along which the plane runs, and I just trim the veneers till it is flush with the plywood. Works a treat and is very...

    Beginners' veneering problems

I gave up on glue film a long time ago, if you have an industial heating press it works fine, but for us types it's just hard to keep it hot whilst clamping it up. I use special slow cure PVA from Germany, and have used Extramite , but also normal PVA works well but does shrink a bit with...

Downing street petitiion against road charging

I've lived here for 2 stints now for a total of 10 yeras and I'm still not used to the back pedal brakes ! My wife and kids do laugh at me. Your right the dutch do cycle in all weathers - plenty of hats and gloves visible in my neck of the woods though. And yes we do have cycle paths to die...

    Trend T5

I have a T5 and a T9 and they are just great, rock solid, loads of available accessories and the spares support is great. However if you're considering a router table then I would serious consideration to a Triton as the Trend are not as handy when slung underneath (I have my T9 there but...

Downing street petitiion against road charging

Here here, I've just signed the petition for traffic charging , we need to ween ourselves off the car/hydrocarbons, especially when most have 4 seats and often only one is occupied. http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/VehicleTracking/ One happy cyclist.

    Copy of full PC Installation

Chaps I´ve just spent hours after putting a new hard disk in my laptop, re/installing all my software XP, SP2 and all it´s updates etc etc Is there a neat way to take a copy of your system set up and write that to a CD-DVD so I could load all everything in one go, should I need to? Sand blasting wood

Thanks every one - lots to think about, I also have a wall which needs sand blasting to clean it so I am trying to cover two things with one tool. Seems the Machine Mart addition may be the way to go.

    Sand blasting wood

I've always been tempted to create that weather beaten effect on wood and make some cabinets from it (deep grain wear rounding edges etc.), I read Sam Maloof did this using a sand blaster. Now this got me wondering how to sand blast, now I have a power washer surely I could rig up some extra...

Tablesaws - long fence or short?

I have a Kity TS with a long fence (also came with a short fence but only one locking mechanism so too messy to change it all the time). So I built a sliding MDF 3 sided box that snugly fits over the Kity fence with a stop and wing nutted bolts running along the T track top of the original fence...
