    Rip thin strips? (3mmx3mm)

No track saw I'm afraid. @RichC I know it would be the preferred tool for the job, it's on the plan for next year so I was hoping there would be some other cunning plan! My only other idea involved a backing board and double sided tape, but I can see that being a pain to clean off the strips after.

    Rip thin strips? (3mmx3mm)

So a slightly different question here to what my trawl of the Internet has thrown up. I am quite comfy ripping thin strips from a board when the board is a reasonable thickness, using a table saw and half length fence. What I'd like to be able to do though is create some 3mm by 3mm Square...

Rcomendations for a budget Mitre Saw

The Rage are good options for this, and they have an outlet store on eBay where you can often pick up some bargains. I know, I've had two from there :D. Personally I'd get the sliding version, much more versatile.

Rage 5S table saw - any good of but something else?

As a novice for boxwork and making things like doll houses I would choose a bandsaw over a table saw personally. More experienced people than I will be along soon who will give more informed counsel.

I've only gone and perfected sharpening! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I know!

I'm honestly sick of the discrimination that seems to be rife these days in the world, and it would appear also this forum. People claiming they have benefited the masses whilst ignoring the important minority. Sickens me. That's right, red carpenters pencils. Won't work for that will it, you...

I love it, in the last 15 years I can count on one hand the issues I've had with it.

    Message boards versus Facebook etc

I'd be wary of their IT knowledge if forums are beyond them. Things like Facebook are good if your aim is social and you don't have any technical ability. Setting up a forum requires some tech knowledge (but these days there are providers who will do it for you).

    Drill Press or Milling Machine?

Having moved an old Fobco in a family workshop many years ago, I can testify that they are definitely bloody solid! How they smiled when I just tried to pick it up by myself...

    Coronet machinery

If this is the same design as the Major, then it's a tapered phosphor bronze bearing in the headstock. It could be that it needs slackening slightly but the fact you're querying the oil point sets off alarm bells! You should be oiling this before every use, and periodically whilst in use.

    i think i need a router

Yes to 1,but 2 and 3 sound better to be done by hand with a saw.

Am I crippling myself by not having a shooting board?

It's a Freud, I can't remember the exact model number without going out and checking. Interesting. The only other blade I have is the Dewalt one it came with, but that's a thicker blade. I'll factor that in to my investigations too!

Am I crippling myself by not having a shooting board?

Thanks for all the replies everyone. The blade is practically new, fine toothed and clean. I'll recheck the saw setup to see if anything has come out of alignment. I will do various practice cuts to try and ascertain if it's my technique. I'll include clamping as one of the variables. I'll...

Am I crippling myself by not having a shooting board?

Thanks all. What I'm getting is a slight bulge in the middle of the mitre, so the end of the board is fractionally convex. I might recheck all my setup to see if anything has drifted.

Am I crippling myself by not having a shooting board?

I'm making some really simple small shelving units at the moment, with a mixture of mitre and butt joints. The difference between my past projects is I am being utterly obsessive with the accuracy - I need to up my game and do proper joinery. Whilst butt joints are perfect straight off my mitre...
