    Faceshield for turning

Thanks, I'll have a look. I should probably say my first choice is something along the lines of the Honeywell Bionic or similar, since I've already got a respirator (assuming it has enough clearance!). If the best option ends up being an all-in-one I'll fork out the cash though.

    Faceshield for turning

My old (cheap) faceshield has just given up the ghost, and before I bought a new one and splashed out some cash to get a decent fitting one, I thought I'd ask on here for opinions on what people prefer. I'm no fan of goggles for turning with, as I find them distracting (field of view), and...

    Shrinkwrap them to a pallet?

Sparks assistance required please, exterior light.

No worries. Google is your friend a lot of the time for confirming what needs notifying. There were changes made to relax what needs to be notified which has been a big help.

Sparks assistance required please, exterior light.

Nope, if it's an outside light that doesn't require a new circuit, he doesn't have to get a Part P inspection. An internal fused spur with a swtich would be fine as isolated.

Has anyone seen this stuff before?

Deox-C for me here, definite disciple of the church of B&H!

    forstner for cordless drill

You don't need to run them particularly slowly (most of the time my pillar drill is left on the same speed), but if you are cutting particularly hard material (and therefore progressing slowly), you might want to slow it down if you see burn around the edge of the bit, since it's a flush cut...

Suggestions on how to improve my workshop

Thanks :). I've got the drill set up at present so the chuck is at eye level so that's ok at least. I'd had similar thoughts around the pillar drill myself, but decided for now I'll see how I go as most of the work on long pieces of timber I do aren't constrained by the drill at present. If that...

    Semi-Rigid "Pose-able" vacuum hose

I had an idea after your replies, and have used an old anglepoise lamp as a support for a length of vacuum hose. Job's a good 'un!

Suggestions on how to improve my workshop

Right, wanted to post some pictures up since people had taken the time to respond to my original post. Nearly complete now, just need to do some racking for the turning chisels, a few random tools, and build a timber trolley for the long lengths I've got stashed in the conservatory at present...

    Semi-Rigid "Pose-able" vacuum hose

Nono, you misunderstand :). I'm going to get one, I'm just seeing if there are cheaper options available first ;).

    Semi-Rigid "Pose-able" vacuum hose

For my pillar drill and a couple of other things (in my quest to rebuild my workshop), I really like the idea of adding in some extraction to be run from my shop vac. Unfortunately, I'm tight fisted, and the options I've found are pricey. 1) Axminster Bendi-Hoze - Discontinued 2) Camvac 2.5"...

    Has anyone seen my trousers?

Sacrificed the wrong pair to become shop rags? Noticed any large holes appearing in skirting boards and scratching heard within the walls? Has a neighbour recently erected a rather stylish looking flag? Are they on your head? I lose my glasses or pencils all the time, and they're often on my...

    Giving up MDF

Like most things, it's always better to have never meddled with them than have to give them up, but I want to make a conscious effort to stop using MDF in my tinkering - I'm re-doing the workshop at the moment so it's getting a damn good clean in the process, and much improved dust collection...

Suggestions on how to improve my workshop

Curses upon all of you!!! :p. Day two of re-doing the workshop at the moment, and it's at the point of total anarchy in there right now where old storage has been removed but no new storage is in place yet. Therefore I place blame for the current entropy levels firmly upon all of you! (Thanks...

Suggestions on how to improve my workshop

I've gone for the fm300bc extractor, as well as 100mm fittings. I've also got some 63mm stuff but I'm having seconds thoughts about the usefulness of that now. Foe my hand tools I've got an old Dyson currently hooked up through an ash bin so I'm fitting a dust master cyclone on top of the bin...

Best Dust/Chip extractors for small workshop - Advice Please

Thanks.. Glad I asked that, I would have happily blocked off the hose to just a single 63mm on some applications!

    Dust extraction / chip collector

Yup, familiar looking name from one of the reviewers! They had the extractor at a store only and the cartridge at Central only, so they're shipping the extractor to central to send them out together at the end of the week. Ordered my accessories from Rutland as they were half the cost which...
