Speed up planer cutterblock with smaller pulley?

Of course the other option is changing one of the motor pulleys to a larger one assuming it will clear.... That might be the better option!

Speed up planer cutterblock with smaller pulley?

I understand the chance of slippage, but why would I lose power? I might see how much a 60 pulley will cost and give it a bash if it's cheap, and fork out for a full pulley if that doesn't work.

Speed up planer cutterblock with smaller pulley?

Afternoon all. Drive system question for an old Cooksley BPL planer/thicknesser. There is next to no documentation on these online, but you can find manuals for the BPJ which isn't a million miles away. So, at some point in the past the machine was converted from a 2 motor system (independent...

    CAT 6, 7 or 8 ?

Cat5 and cat5e are different specs - if you have 5e then I'd stick with what you have.

    Which 1/2 router? My first!

The mv12e gets a lot of love and I have one which has not let me down. My only gripe is that it doesn't take standard trend bushes without an adaptor plate.

Remove lacquer from plastic plane handle

Definitely lacquered, quite possibly a change. I hadn't considered polish, thanks Pete.

Remove lacquer from plastic plane handle

I'm restoring a batch of hand planes at the moment, and some are the Stanley's with plastic totes. Does anyone know the appropriate chemical to strip the lacquer from them so I can refinish, without dissolving the plastic itself? Cheers.

Any PC builders, overclockers, enthusiasts out there?

Drop me a PM Chris, built my own stuff since I was a lad, overclocking etc all that stuff.

    Donkey Ear shooting board

I wouldn't go that route - you're going to have to hold the workpiece up against gravity in that orientation.

    Spinning Through the Wood Pile

As always lovely work Chas. On the pin tray, what's the wood on the lower half of the lamination (not the yew)? I like the concave bevel coming up to the lid on your latest post to soften it all.

How do i cut a straight line

As a top tip, never try to use the jigsaw for straight stuff - the blade has enough flex that it can wander. Router and straight edge is always a good choice.

How warm should table saw pulleys get?

I don't know I'm afraid but Lee at altsaws will see you straight.

What sort of area are you covering? Bog standard lint free cotton cloth is my usual choice for applying any oil or wax.

    Virtual machines

OP, you definitely don't need a virtual machine. Just keep your antivirus up to date, be smart with your browsing and dodgy emails, and you will be absolutely fine. If the thought of uninstalling Windows gives you the jitters then virtual machines are not for you (they're also not needed for...

    Low angle jack planes

Wow thanks for all the replies guys, hugely informative. What is singularly unhelpful though is that you're pointing me towards the most expensive option. Bad UKW, bad!

    Low angle jack planes

Generally for planes my preferred option is buying used and restoring, however despite keeping an eye out the pickings seem to be slim to none on low angle jack planes. As a result I'm considering buying new - unheard of for me! Options that are around seem to be... Stanley sweetheart - £110...

    A gruesome hand saw restoration...

From the injury I guess he has slipped with the hand holding the workpiece as he brought the blade down, hence the angle of the cut into his hand. Who knows why he was able to do that.

    Rip thin strips? (3mmx3mm)

That's why it's always worth asking the question :). Thanks to all!
