    Best 'value' laptop....

I'd pick up a basic Inspiron 15 from the Dell outlet personally. It'll be a fair bit cheaper than the HP offering, infinitely better built too.

    Safety in the workshop

I'm a bit like that with kitchen knives. I've got some lovely Henckels that I keep a ridiculous edge on, but they've also tasted my blood a few times as a result - even brushing against them is enough!

    Axminster T-2000CK 1hp Cyclone or CT-90HB 2hp Extractor

I understand your sentiment but 100mm is far from useless. I definitely wouldn't go smaller, but a single 100mm can pull a decent amount of air. Extraction isn't just about the design of the pipework, there's a lot to be said about how you hook it up to the machines in terms of funnels etc.

    MFT Top

£50 you say, might have to investigate them for a top for my bench... Nice cosy workshop by the way! :)

    Axminster T-2000CK 1hp Cyclone or CT-90HB 2hp Extractor

That's pretty low power on the Axminster even before you consider there's a cyclone in there - the 2HP version would look more appealing. Ambient air filters are not something I'm a fan of - best bet is to stop the dust getting there in the first place, and I'd use your money on a decent mask...

Which router for table with above table adjust/bit change?

Having just gone through the same buyer's dilemma, my findings were: 1) Buy a Triton - they've got the table features built in, and are well known with a 3 year warranty. Some quality issues arise at times (notably the switch, which was faulty on my first one), but are immediately replaced. 2)...

Router + guide to put a lip on a piece?

Well now I feel a bit foolish... Thanks though! :)

Router + guide to put a lip on a piece?

I could for this job yes, I was hoping (forlornly) that buying a set might be cheaper in the long run but it doesn't look like it's the case!

Router + guide to put a lip on a piece?

Aha! My googling has finally paid off. I want a rebate cutter set with multiple bearings. They're pricey though! Hopefully that clears up what I'm trying to achieve though - are there any other approaches?

Router + guide to put a lip on a piece?

I'll try my best to describe this without resorting to scribbles. A typical lid has a downwards protrusion inside of the outer wall of the box, to hold it in place. Agreed? Good, hold that thought. I will be making a lid from an oblong box (metal), by using the box as a guide to run a flush...

    Shop Vac. Bagless

I'd go for the Titan Kev, and use the cash you save to get an extra bin and cyclonic separator. Short of hoovering up chunks of sharp metal, that'll cope with pretty much anything, give you excellent filtration, and rarely require you to touch the hoover itself.

Table Saw - 2x32mm connectors - HVLP or LVHP?

I've just picked up an Elektra Beckum PK200 with all the trimmings which I'll set up tomorrow - it's in perfect condition and I'm really chuffed. What I'm not sure about though is the extraction - it currently has a 100mm connector going to 2 32mm hoses, one to a hood under the blade, one to a...

    Shop Vac. Bagless

It's a bit of a heath robinson method, but it works flawlessly! 32mm hoover hose, with the screw-on endcap left on. Good dose of Stix-all around it (after 24 hours this stuff sets unbelieveably strongly). Few wraps of gorilla tape around the join, tapering out further up the hose, to create a...

    Tv amplifier

UHF would imply it's not satellite, it's just a standard aerial feed. The amp is just a signal booster, I'm assuming you're in a poor location for reception.

Very interesting, thanks for taking the time to write that :)

    Cheapest mobile usage abroad

All of USA is "Feel at Home" with Three - in other words it's the same as domestic allowance. If I was you I'd get a one month contract with them, or a PAYG SIM with the data addon. You'll struggle to find cheaper than that!

    A Goblet with a difference.

One of the nicest things I've ever seen if I'm honest - any interest in sharing what's involved?

    Solid wood for scrolling

As above, scrap bits from your local timber merchant or workshop can be a great win-win for both parties.
