    (Techy!) More neg/slide scanning...

There are no shortage of pci scsi cards to be had, and USB to scsi adaptors can be bought. Are these things you've tried but had issues with driver compatibility?

    laminate floor thickness

8mm will feel fine as long as you use decent underlay. I'd suggest sonic gold myself.

    Router bit for planing/surfacing

What sort of speeds do people run these 6 wings at? American oak is my starting material. I'm going to keep the depth of cut less than the bevel height on the cutter, aiming to take full diameter cuts.

Anyone here had medication/operation for disk back problem?

I've been hospitalised with a ruptured disc before, not fun. Time was the cure. As far as I'm aware (and I'm not medical in any way shape or form), the only way medication will help the source is if the issue is caused by inflammation and that can be reduced. You're otherwise looking at...

    Router bit for planing/surfacing

Wow, I didn't realise this was such an unusual thing? I have a thicknesser that takes a max of 317mm. My boards are 400mm+. The established way of doing this is building a router sled and going at the plank with a straight/bowl/surfacing router cutter to plane/thickness the plank as required...

    Router bit for planing/surfacing

Thanks guys. I'll order a wealden one tonight I think. I'm planing oak boards in this instance, which I could fit in the thicknesser cross grain, but don't fancy my chances of a good finish doing that!

    Router bit for planing/surfacing

For some reason I'm really struggling on finding these, maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing or the wrong name! I'm after a large (1.5" with 1/2" shank) surfacing cutter for planing wide boards on a router sled. Bowl/dish cutters seem to get the best opinion rating, but I'm struggling to find...

any tips for fitting shower wall panels

I'm not, I'm talking about the laminate boards :)

Countersink / counterbore and clearance hole all in one go?

In the past when I've had things like these I've always struggled with the countersink collar not gripping the drill bit for any length of time. Any of the items above particularly good or bad for that aspect?

any tips for fitting shower wall panels

I've done these in a couple of scenarios, once was just a corner quadrant shower, a single board on each face. The other time was a row of 4 boards on one wall and a single on the other corner face. My advice/tips would be.. - Dry fit them first, and any wedges or similar you need to position...

Glue and mortice and tenon joints.

There have been many theoretical discussions on this topic, and many practical explorations of reality. What I think people often lose sight of what is actually required. The variations in strength of various approaches are often insignificant when you scale up the number of load bearing joints...

Best shop vac for up to £100.00

Very similar setup to mine. It's not quiet, that is true, but the tools I use are louder!

Best shop vac for up to £100.00

Screwfix Titan plus a dust commander and a steel bucket. Should see you in budget and its a hugely effective combination.

    Router inlay templates

I've seen quite a few inlay designs recently that caught my eye, so I thought I'd do a bit of research. It seems that the commercial offerings are very limited - about the only set I can find is the one that Rutlands sell which appears to be a Milescraft kit -...

Tabel Saw Blade thickness and riving knife

The point is just the riving knife SHOULD be in contact so that the wood tries to bind on the knife not the blade. Personally I'd swap the blade, but some people with more experience might tell you it's ok, I don't know.

    Good quality wood glue

Titebond has a lot of fans on here, never used it myself. I like the evostick exterior, I use it for everything really!

    Coronet Major Sliderest

Not sure what you're referring to. Any chance of a picture with a pointy finger?

    Microsoft Autorroute software Help

No worries :). It's always worth trying on older programs if they run into issues like not remembering settings, always failing to update, etc.

    bowl gouge grinding

Not difficult at all, it just takes time to remove the wings initially. To take the wings off all you're doing is rolling the chisel to a near inverted position as you grind, rather than stopping sooner.

    Microsoft Autorroute software Help

Don't turn off UAC, that's a risky sledgehammer to crack a nut. Try running the program as an administrator. To do that, right click the shortcut you use, and click Run As Administrator. You'll have to approve a pop-up box that will appear, and hopefully you should find that resolves it. If it...
