    Matching oak skirtings/architraves

The joys of natural materials and their variations! Here's a question for you. Architraves and skirting in a room, both European Oak from same timber yard, both finished with oil. Significant difference in colour. What would you do to get a better match? Sand back and use tinted oil? Remachine...

To whomever is stealing my pencils..

Surely this is grounds for a ban? :ROFLMAO:

To whomever is stealing my pencils..

Sad to see this is a widespread issue. Potentially with enough signatures we could get this debated in parliament and see if it can be solved!

To whomever is stealing my pencils..

... Please give them back. I've got tens of the bloody things and they're all vanished. Anyone else noticed this unreported problem over the years?

    Table Saw

Second hand will get you a much better machine for your money, with the added advantage that if you're mechanically minded they're simple to repair. Startrite, wadkin, multico are all typical brands. A cast iron table is a given on those. What is your budget and available space?

Ideal Router setup for Table Saw?

Very kind thank you @Peter Sefton. I think I've down selected noelw, had some slight awkwardness with the height of my table saw not conforming to typical stands so I'll build my own and just attach some angle iron to the bottom of the router table top to bolt it through to the table saw for...

Ideal Router setup for Table Saw?

Cheers. So at the moment I'm leaning towards a custom top with phenolic ply, jessem router lift, and some form of DIY fence that hooks over the table saw fence and clamps to it. With a micro adjuster. I really want to avoid two fences as it means regularly removing it to use the table saw.

Ideal Router setup for Table Saw?

Thanks @Jameshow . Interesting,I'll look into that fence, sure there are ways to attach it to the table saw fence. Thanks @recipio

Ideal Router setup for Table Saw?

Evening all! I've had some good news at work so I'm looking to get myself a present. For a long time I've been planning to replace my home-built router table/cabinet with something that's built into my Startrite 175, so this seems like a prime opportunity. The question is, if you were in my...

    Recommended stock supplier?

Fantastic replies all, and thank you for the considered opinion Bob. Think I'll be doing some shopping this evening! Just need to finish cleaning up the tool holder and set up the drip oilers more accurately and I think I'm good to go, so need to get the stock ordered.

Thanks d_w that's good food for thought, appreciated.

Sharpening gear - it's changed a lot in recent years!

My last encounter with a proper sharpening setup was a Tormek Supergrind 2000 for my turning chisels. I loved how forgiving it was due to the combination of wet wheel and excellent jigs. Setting up my own workshop requires my own sharpening solution, and I see that things have changed a fair...

    Recommended stock supplier?

I know there are a fair few retailers listed in the links thread in here, but what are people's suggestion for where to source brass and aluminium stock from please? Context to this is that I've just obtained and restored a MyFord ML7 and I'm armed with a lot of recommended books and YouTube...

Speed up planer cutterblock with smaller pulley?

I absolutely could, but as you say, pennies. I'll decide what I need and cost it up and go from there. If I have to start messing with scaling up the larger pulleys instead and I'm dropping 100 quid all of a sudden then I might consider a motor at that point.

Speed up planer cutterblock with smaller pulley?

Nah mine has fixed slots with wedges that screw down into it

The issue then is I will double my feed speed which I don't want.
