Cheap track saw for ripping boards?

Thanks for all the replies. I can't get the merchant to cut it as the only place near me that sells it (and fortunately sells bb Birch ply at a fair price) deals wholesale and therefore it's a whole sheet or nothing. I've borrowed an ancient Ferm (I know I know) saw that a friend had going...

    Faulty Router Cutter?

Ordered a few more cutters from Wealden last week and as always, delivery was quick and the cutters seem great. One though, a 6.0mm straight 2 flute, has chipped on the first usage. The wood was a fresh walnut blank, no knots, no nails etc. I'm going to contact them on Monday but does anyone...

Cheap track saw for ripping boards?

That would work perfectly for me. What do you support the piece with? Do you freehand the cut then or have you got a piece of 8' straight edge material and clamps? Thanks.

Cheap track saw for ripping boards?

As per the title really, I'm not after something that can be relied on to do accurate cuts as I will do finishing cuts on my table saw or RAS. What I am after is something to rip 8'x4' boards down to something a bit more manageable before manhandling them in the workshop. Would any old track...

    Turned Japanese Doll

Interesting, not tools that I've seen before. How is he mounting the doll's head?

    Table saw Crown Guard angle.

Related to us slightly off topic possibly - why is the vacuum pickup at the front of the blade and not the rear please?

How to make a curved corner

Right angle template with a router with a wide guide bush fitted would be simple and quick.

Thinking of buying a OX CNC kit

I nearly got a c beam machine a while ago, but couldn't make space for it. I believe the c beam is more precise, albeit the basic model has a smaller footprint than the ox.

Norm style router table build and insert choice

Thought I'd update this now that the build is underway. I'd class this as a fairly normal Norm build, with the alterations of: - TWX7 RT001 as the tabletop, on a removeable plywood base for any future usage. - An extra 4" depth at the back for putting "stuff" when you're using the table (e.g...

Anyone tried de-rusting with Clarke air tools?

Is this a question about the tools, or de-rusting? I'd suggest a paste of Deox-C for rust removal, very effective and low effort.

    Dust Extraction Air Flow

Based on what you've described there, the airflow you need is high velocity in a small area to pick up from those tools. That gives lvhp. For picking up cnc debris that escapes the shoe, you'd be better encasing the machine and having a secondary system pulling hvlp through the cabinet

    Dust Extraction Air Flow

You want LVHP. I'd suggest a good workshop vacuum with a DIY cyclone and drum in the middle rather than buying an all-in-one solution personally.

    any computer artists around?

Here you go, you'll have to resize to suit your printing scaling, but the proportions are right.

    Router for a router table

On a budget you can't really beat the tritons for table use. I'd suggest the MOF001 but from your post I suspect the cheaper JOF001 might be the better option.

    Which SCMS for workshop use?

As I'm trying to improve my skills and get precise with my joints etc, I've now started getting a bit obsessive over accuracy, and the small amount of play present before now bothers me. It'll just be play in bearings etc but I'm tempted to replace outright. Thanks for all the comments...

    Which SCMS for workshop use?

Thanks, the current version seems to be the LS1018L which isn't that dear at all. I'm going to have a bash at stripping my Dewalt today to see what can be done, otherwise I'll flog it and invest in the Makita I expect!

    Which SCMS for workshop use?

Following on from my RAS repair thread, I'd like to ry and dowbselect an SCMS option. I'd like one that can take a 10" blade since I already have some, other than that I'm flexible. Accuracy is my most important requirement, I want very good repeatability and accuracy to be able to crosscut...
