Double Garage without a ceiling - options?

Because it's going to become a workshop. I intend to insulate the floor with a t&g floating floor on top, batten out the walls for kingspan and then a plywood inner face, which just leaves the ceiling.

Double Garage without a ceiling - options?

I'm looking at houses at the moment, and one of the options has a double garage with apex roof, but without a ceiling, the timbers are all exposed. It's detached. There isn't really viable storage space up there due to the way it has been constructed, so I see my options as: 1) Kingspan or...

    Osmo choices

Thanks for the replies, and offer Bm101 but it's ok on the samples front. I don't mind too much about the finish to be honest, probably anywhere from satin to gloss. I'm interested in trying Osmo as several people have commented that it enhances the wood more than danish, so I'm just looking to...

    Osmo choices

There are a million and one choices! What is best for tool handles please? I often use Danish but would like to give osmo a go.

What to treat a jig with for easy sliding?

If its something where you can secure the ends of a piece of tape, I like the Teflon tape you can buy from many sources.

    lunchbox thicknesser chip extraction?

I paid £200-odd for my Triton and have been really pleased with it. Excellent finish, holds its adjustment well. The only issue I do have with it is when I'm handling wide pieces of timber. The resultant long shavings can clog the outlet pipe, but in fairness they can clog the inlet grill on my...

    Etsy

Has anyone ever looked on Etsy at the various wooden products available? I've just been having a look and some of he prices on there seem extremely lucrative, and the number of reviews suggests that they do in fact sell. I'll admit, I'm tempted to make a few simple pieces and try it out for...

Best way to make identical 5cm oak hearts?

Nope, but that wood looks horrible and I want to learn the skills!

Best way to make identical 5cm oak hearts?

Thanks all, no bandsaw at present due to workshop size constraints! Sounds like I'm on the right lines at least - I'll stick at the scrollsaw and see if I can do them in sets, cheers!

Best way to make identical 5cm oak hearts?

Thanks. Thought I'd post in general to check I wasn't taking the wrong approach. No idea what blades I'm using, they seem like fine wood blades rather than metalwork or coarse cutting. It's only a little draper saw.

Best way to make identical 5cm oak hearts?

I've been asked to do some table decorations for a wedding, well, part of the decoration anyways - 5cmx5cm hearts out of oak about 4mm thick - identical set of 18. I've done the first few by printing a template from my PC, attaching with double sided sticky tape and using my scrollsaw. I've got...

    Respirator / dust masks

Sounds clichéd but pick the one that's the best fit and most comfortable for you. If you don't happily wear it, it's guaranteed to be ineffective! As long as it's a decent brand, it makes no difference whether it's disposable or has replacement filters as long as the filter grade matches. It is...

    How do I?

I assume from the way you're phrasing the first post that you're after making this from a single piece rather than assembling it from components. If so I'd use a freehand router against a straight edge clamped as a reference. For a nice finish I'd probably use a bowl cutter or similar.

    Saws and space issues

Have you considered a site-sized table saw with removable extensions? I have an EB PK200 and if I take the extensions off it's tiny - could give you the best of both worlds?

    Concrete sectional workshop?

Thanks all, sounds like this is the route I'll go, paying attention to suitable doors and budget for paint. I think I'll also paint the floor with decent concrete paint.

    Computer Service Concerns

The disc isn't your license, the license sticker is. It should be stuck to your PC case. If it wasn't attached or it's a retail license and that has been lost then yes, Windows needs replacing. Windows 7 is still supported but be aware that it's likely to go End of Life in 3 years or so based...

    Concrete sectional workshop?

Thanks all. The ones I have looked at come with internal boards on the roof area to avoid condensation, and I will deck out the inside with studs and ply with insulation board behind them. Probably looking at something the size of a triple garage ideally.

    Concrete sectional workshop?

I'm looking at moving house next year, partly to get out of an area that is devaluing, but also to get more space for a workshop. One thing that has caught my eye is the potential of a concrete sectional workshop - within the (generous) planning limits I wouldn't need permission, and it looks...
