Hitting a screw with a mitre saw blade

If it looks fine it is fine. Check each tooth for damage - even a couple of damaged teeth are fine so long as they're still planar to the blade.

    Plastic on the way out

Plastic isn't going anywhere, it's too easy to make and too versatile. What needs to change is its usage where paper can do the job, and a greater use of thermosoftening plastics. Innovations like this enzyme clearly open up new avenues. Fundamentally though the biggest problem with plastics...

    Router or not?

I'd say it's done on a belt or disc sander. He hasn't managed to get into the curve of the neck which implies a fixed machine rather than hand work where he could have followed that curve.

    New to turning

Look for something like a Coronet Major. Great starter lathe, easy to get spares for, easy to get adapter plates for.

Incra Magnalock or Triton TWX7 for TRA001 router table build

I used the TWX7 in my build and I'm really pleased with it. Picture here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/b92bdg9fwz6pv ... 5.jpg?dl=0 Build thread here - norm-style-router-table-build-and-insert-choice-t104374-15.html Please don't compare it to TFrench's!

    New saw advice

Is that an exceptionally hefty extension table to the right of the TS Custard, or the back end of a planer?

    New saw advice

Just to challenge that a bit Geoff, a good condition Dewalt 1251 can be had for around £200, and I wouldn't have said it takes any more space than a portable table saw.

    Mates Rates

Similar to t8hants, though I don't make any pretence that I'm a pro - I'm a very practical person who has done up places in the past and have a varied set of skills, but I'm still an amateur. I only tend to do stuff for mates, and usually work for food as long as they supply materials.

    New saw advice

Your other option if you do a lot of cross cuts and only the occasional rip would be a radial arm saw. You can then rip material with either your track saw or the RAS, and they are extremely accurate for cross cuts.

Do you need to keep a tidy bench to produce quality work?

Keep it tidy except for a nice level of plane shavings kicking around. Plane shavings make the workshop feel right!

Table and fence for Meddings radial arm drill

Looks great! What paint did you use please as the finish looks superb?

    Difference between Isopropyl and Meths.

Ipa doesn't leave a residue which is a major plus in cleaning applications if you need a truly clean surface. I think (don't know) I'm right in saying that meths will leave a residue which may or may not be a problem depending on your intentions.

    quick question

You will usually find that the lathe head has a locking pin at the 90 degree point for security. You should be able to get a curve tool rest for bowl turning if you don't have one.

    Workshop Flooring

An alternative suggestion for you. Stud out the floor, put in 50mm insulation, with 22mm chipboard over the top. Cost effective, hard wearing, nice to stand on. You can swap the studwork and insulation for EPS depending on the loads you will put on it.

Worktop "clamps" for thinner kitchen worktop?

Ideally you'd sink them in 20mm then but I'd try 15mm and see how you get on.

    My new tropical aquarium setup.

Snail killing options are many and varied... 1) You! Finger, tank, squish. 2) Botia striata, a small loach species, love to munch on snails. 3) Assassin snails - predatory type of snail which is actually quite pretty and will demolish all other snails in your tank.

    Makita SPJ6000 track saw 110v

No worries I'll leave it be. Cheers.

    My new tropical aquarium setup.

Be aware a clown loach is a BIG fish. It will outgrow that tank at some point so be aware.

    Workshop Extraction

I'd envisaged small kit but you're right that's a false assumption by me.
