    Extending crosscut sled beyond table

Great, thanks for the replies all, plenty of food for thought there!

    Extending crosscut sled beyond table

Thanks Fitz that's the sort of thing I have been thinking of, wondered if there was an ingenious solution I hadn't considered!

    Extending crosscut sled beyond table

Not easily done as I have the extension bars already fitted so there isn't any clearance to build a false table unfortunately.

    Extending crosscut sled beyond table

So, I'm wondering if there's a solution to this other than obtaining a sliding table. I have a Startrite 175 which I love, but a few times recently I've wished I could do longer cuts with a crosscut sled. The problem of course is that the mitre slots clearly only run the length of the table...

    The Art of Wadkin

We're all lusting after the machinery (can't blame anyone!), but I really don't understand for the life of me how this is art!

    Plywood facing

The lighter colour face you posted a picture of actually looks good to me, but if you're saying the overall ply is poor quality then it's probably sheathing plywood.

    Plywood facing

Just in case we're at cross purposes here - birch ply is not "reddish" at all, that would be the standard meranti faced stuff. There's as many types of ply as you can shake a stick at, and no global reason for a change anywhere. It's most likely suppliers trying cheaper stuff to see if the...

    table saw fence question

FFX and Screwfix in the UK have a good selection of Freud, and a replacement riving knife for the saw should set you back less than £20. That'd be my approach. @Trevanion I've not tried the CMT blades but I have their blade cleaner and it works a treat!

    What about Plasti-Dip?

    table saw fence question

I don't think anybody is disputing Freud (if they were, I'd stick up for the red blades!), it's more the case that this is the wrong blade for the job. On the subject of sticking with an oversized blade, I believe it's broadly safe, however... - Check that you still have full rise and fall/tilt...

Can you recommend a USB Wifi dongle?

Hmmmm, difficult to know what to recommend to you on this. - By all means go the USB route, something like this will be find for general use around the house. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Archer-T2U-Nan ... A419153031 - Be aware that (as you've found on some of your searches) USB power management...

    General plywood advice

What size are you talking? MDF with a horizontal reinforcing strip may be a better option.

    Refinishing Oak Worktops?

They advertise the worktop oil as being harder wearing, but I've never done a comparison myself.

Cheers for the reply Chris. You can finish restoring that plane now ;) hehe.

Neverending Bench Build Surprises Hobby Woodworker By Ending

Looks great Chris, good work fella! Where did you source all the Keruing from for that? It's not a timber I've encountered before, especially interested if it's affordable!

    Micro Mesh on random orbital

Custard, whilst I was aware of the advice in the rest of your post I wasn't aware of this. In the past I've just ensured I have a nice clean (sawn) face and then sanded it the same as the rest of the piece of timber. How does going finer reduce absorption - the grain is still open? Not arguing...

    .22 bicycle gun.

You need to get this into a smiths to get deactivated ASAP as otherwise you're sitting on an unfortunate reason for some free accommodation from the government! The law will see it as a pistol in a currently available calibre, and as such a functional weapon. A smiths will be able to get it...
