Will Brexit affect companies that import lots like Axminster

Thank you for the info, very interesting indeed! So presumably as the price of European timber will rise with the increased cost of importing and will therefore increase the demand for UK grown timber, which i'm guessing will in turn raise the price of the UK grown timer?

I did think about doing that, but i was concerned that it would heat up too much and mess with the heat treatment of the steel?

Yeah, i do actually have a smaller one already which is 6mm thick and i dont find it too bad (its only a 9" max bowl diamer capacity on my lathe) so thought it was worth a try for a tenner compared to buying one for £70-odd.

    Making your own tools

Hi graduate owner, Yes, i received them in less time than i thought too. As i dont have any metalworking tools I've been slowly shaping my first blank on a cheap bench grinder, constantly in and out of water to keep it cool. Its taking a long time, and as i've not done much turning recently (got...

Will Brexit affect companies that import lots like Axminster

Sorry guys, regardless on my opinions I genuinely just wanted to get people's take on how it may affect us as a woodworker, in particular with future large-ish purchases (I have some in mind)... I didn't want it to turn into a bit of a peeing contest. But thank you for the info just the same

Will Brexit affect companies that import lots like Axminster

I voted remain! I didn't delve too deep into the reality of the conequences of us leaving as I was trying to be positive, but I was so shocked that so many people have voted for us to leave, many just didn't think it through!? And yes, that's more what I was thinking, I haven't saved enough...

Will Brexit affect companies that import lots like Axminster

Yeah, I've already filled up my car in anticipation of that :? I was just wondering what kind of restrictions etc there may be for the companies that import directly from the continent? The weekends project may be to start digging ready to put in a fallout shelter!! :D

Will Brexit affect companies that import lots like Axminster

Don't claim to be an expert or anything, but was wondering how much leaving the EU is going to affect the companies, and their prices, that import a lot of their tools etc? Like Brimarc for example, how much would they rely on importing products from the continent?

Trying to find natural turquoise to crush for inlay work???

I've got some inlay work which I'd like to use natural turquoise on a project. I've been looking everywhere, there's loads of it for sale in the US but I can't seem to find it in the UK!? I know you can get that Inlace stuff, but I'd like to try some real turquoise. I don't mind if I buy it...
