Bracket capacity & Ironmongery Direct Customer Service

I bought a pack of 10 brackets from Screw Fix which are pretty good. The deepest shelves (which i bought) are 350mm and have a capacity of 79kg/bracket... there are 250mm deep ones with a capacity of 120kg and 200mm deep ones with a capacity of 147kg. DIY Wood Kiln

Good shout W2S, and even if I didn't use it for the kiln that would be handy to have around for that price! Thanks :D Thanks Chas, I have had a good look around everywhere, but couldn't find much in the way of a temperature sensor switch thing That sounds like the exact kind of thing that...

    DIY Wood Kiln

I've been tempted to make my own wood kiln so i can dry small quantities of my own timber at home. Its not something I'll be making yet, but I'm putting together a shopping list of what I'll need so I can save a bit or buy a few bits now and again. What I have in mind is that I'll make some...

    Solid wood floating shelves

The OH wanted the shelves gloss black, so didnt need any nice quality hardwood so i made mine from 6x2 construction timber that had been acclimatising in the house for a while and were surprisingly straight (but they arent 1.5m long though). Anyways, i had luck using these bought from the bay...

Router sled / router planer - which router bit for the job?

Some great advice and suggestions there :) I have yet to find an excuse to buy myself a Wealden router bit yet (or atleast one with satisfactory justification for the OH), but I'm attracted by both Eric's 6 wing trimmer and JJ1's 3 wing cutter! Which one though? Eric, with such a long shank...

Router sled / router planer - which router bit for the job?

Thanks Wuffles. Have just sent them a message to ask for suggestions. Which bit was it that you got? And in terms of power i assume my Trend T11 should be ok?

Router sled / router planer - which router bit for the job?

Thanks both! I wonder if the Wealden bit is worth getting over the Rutlands bit!?

Router sled / router planer - which router bit for the job?

I will be making a router sled, firstly to try out by flattening the workbench top of the workbench I'm in the middle of making, but it will be used in future for a couple of natural edge slabs that I currently have drying out. What specific 1/2" shank router bit would people recommend? I don't...

Trying to find natural turquoise to crush for inlay work???

Finally took some finished photos (not the clearest)... Revealing my soppy side now, as an anniversary present for the misses (who's a foot shorter than my 6'4"), and the fact that we now live in a bungalow (no steps), then i made this step. Its my first attempt at hand carving and inlay work...

    Timber auctions?

Yes, I was pleased. But with the lot of 2 chunky planks of Ash, while I was keeping an eye on the tool auction I looked over and the biggest and thicker plank had disappeared!?! It's was the main one I wanted too, someone had walked off with it!! Excuse my ignorance Custard, but what's a PAR...

    Timber auctions?

Thinking about it you're right there, it did seem to be stuff from someone's estate. Anyway, got myself a load of 1" and 2" oak planks which were pre-planed and actually worked out cheaper than rough sawn! Also got a couple of chunky planks of Ash and a cherry one, some cherry rounds and this...
